题目列表(包括答案和解析)
Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom was the first theme park at Walt Disney World. All Disney World theme parks are open 365 days a year, although opening and closing times for each park are different from day to day. If you are traveling without kids, try to visit it on a school day to avoid the largest crowds. If you need to visit it during a school vacation, try at least to avoid the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day and the Fourth of July.
If you are not staying at a Disney World hotel, avoid visiting the Magic Kingdom on its Extra Magic Hours days. The hotel guests get into the park early on those days, increasing the waiting time for visitors who arrive at the normal opening time.
Buy your Walt Disney World tickets online at Disney World’s website. There will be some advice on picking the right ticket. See the guide to Disney World tickets. You will also need to call in advance to make lunch or dinner reservations (预订). Disney accepts reservations, through 1-407-WDW-DINE, up to 180 days in advance. Time does pass quickly, so you should call six months before your trip to get a lunch reservation in the castle. We suggest you should have your lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table for your tour. If you can’t get the reservation, ask for the Liberty Tree Tavern instead.
Keep in mind that to reach the Magic Kingdom, you must park at Disney World’s Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) parking lot, take a tram (有轨电车), and then take a boat across the Seven Seas Lagoon to the Magic Kingdom.

They crossed in front of me as I was driving out of the store parking lot. I would be delayed for a whole ten seconds. However, I realized that it was an elderly couple who were briefly delaying my departure. No more anger.
The man leaned on his wife who walked in front of him. He not only used her for support but it was obvious that he was blind. She was his eyes as well. The two of them worked as one----- each needing to function in this fast-changing world.
That little example of true strength that day changed my whole personal perception of life. Suddenly I wasn’t so mad about having to work a few extra hours on Saturday. I had my strength, and I was still relatively young.
That picture of those two elderly people walking with dignity and strength stayed with me the entire week. My life wasn’t so bad after all. I had my health and a good job.My wife always gave me good advice whenever I needed it. I started to think--- not wonderful old couple, who, despite the trials and hardships of a long life, still had the love and support of each other to carry them through this world.
There are so many people out there just like that couple. My wife and I sometimes picture ourselves in our old age, walking arm-in-arm into the sunset. That image always gives us a warm feeling of comfort. Just remember, none of us would be here if it weren’t for our elders. We should spend an extra minute to listen and learn when it comes to helping our elder friends. They need it.

As Mrs. Thompson stood in front of her 5a grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same.
But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson noticed that he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.
However, when she reviewed his file, she got a surprise.
Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners.., he is a joy to be around."
His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."
His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."
Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class."
Now, Mrs. Thompson was ashamed of herself and felt worse when her students brought her beautifully wrapped Christmas presents. Teddy's present, however, was clumsily wrapped in rough brown grocery paper. Taking her time she opened it to reveal Teddy's gifts, a rhinestone bracelet with stones missing and a quarter full perfume bottle. How the children laughed! "What a pretty bracelet! Mm, lovely perfume! Perfect on my wrist." The children were silent.
Alone together, after school, Teddy told Mrs. Thompson, "Today you smelled just like my Mom used to..." His teacher cried all night and, from that day, she stopped teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic and began to teach children instead.

Renting a color television makes more sense than buying. Here’s why:
1. The longer you rent, the less you pay. Each year the monthly rate is reduced. You can reach a low rate of not much more than $12 a week.
2. Service is fast and free. We can have your set installed in two days. If anything goes wrong, we’ll have it fixed the same day or lend you another set while we’re mending it. And don’t forget: service and spare parts are free!
3. If you don’t have an aerial (天线), we’ll install one for you, and that will be free, too. All you have to pay is the installation charge!
4. You can choose from all kinds of models, and what’s more, if after a certain period of time, and you would like a new model, you can change. How’s that for service?
5. No deposit (押金) is needed. You pay only the monthly rental fee. But if you pay in advance, you can save money. Pay twelve months’ fees when you begin to hire, and we’ll give you a month’s hire without charge.
6. If you decide that you want to stop renting and buy the set you have on hire, this can be arranged—with a generous allowance (折扣) for the fees already paid.
