ÌâÄ¿Áбí(°üÀ¨´ð°¸ºÍ½âÎö)

If you asked high school girls to name their favorite sports, most would probably say basketball or volleyball. I happen to be one of the few girls who would    1   :surfing(³åÀËÔ˶¯). But isn¡¯t that a boy thing? Some people    2    . Most certainly not.

I started surfing about five years ago and    3     in love with the sport on the very first day. Riding that first   4     was the best feeling I had ever experienced.

When I try to   5    surfing with other things, I find it very difficult because, in my

6   there¡¯s nothing like it. It involves(Ç£Éæµ½)body, ¡¡¡¡7    , and soul. There¡¯s sand between my toes and cool, salt water all   8     us. The feeling I get when I¡¯m surfing across that    9    , becoming one with the    10    , is like I¡¯m weightless.

The one thing I can   11     from surfing and not any other sport is endless challenge(ÌôÕ½). You can never be the ¡°best surfer¡± because the ocean    12     an uncountable variety of waves that nobody can ever master. The variations of surfing styles are wonderful. Some surfers are free and flowing; others are very aggressive(»îÔ¾ÓÐÁ¦µÄ)and ¡¡¡¡13    . All of these things attract me to surfing and make it    14     from any other sport.

I¡¯ve ¡¡¡¡15     to tell every girl I know to do something that people don¡¯t think girls can do. It's part of being human to advance to new    16    , so shouldn't it be expected that girls should step up and start    17     the limits of things boys and men used to dominate(Ö÷Ô×)?

There¡¯re women ¡¡¡¡18     side by side with the President of our country, so why not side by side with the boys   19    the football team or out in the water surfing? Give girls a chance to    20    , and they will.

CLOZE TEST

¡¡¡¡In recent years many countries of the world have been faced with the problem of how to make their workers more productive£®Some experts say the ¡¡¡¡1¡¡¡¡ is to make jobs more varied(¶àÑùµÄ)£®But do more varied jobs ¡¡¡¡2¡¡¡¡ greater productivity? There is evidence to suggest that ¡¡¡¡3¡¡¡¡ variety certainly makes the worker's life more enjoyable, it doesn't ¡¡¡¡4¡¡¡¡ make him work harder£®As far as increasing productivity is concerned, then, ¡¡¡¡5¡¡¡¡ is not an important factor£®

¡¡¡¡Other experts feel that giving the worker ¡¡¡¡6¡¡¡¡ to do his job in his own way is important, and there is no doubt that this is true£®The ¡¡¡¡7¡¡¡¡ is that this kind of freedom can't easily be given in the modern factory with its complicated(¸´ÔÓµÄ)machinery which must be used in a ¡¡¡¡8¡¡¡¡ way£®Thus while freedom of choice may be important, there is usually very little that can be done to ¡¡¡¡9¡¡¡¡ it£®

¡¡¡¡Another important ¡¡¡¡10¡¡¡¡ is how much each worker ¡¡¡¡11¡¡¡¡ to the product he is making£®In most factories the worker ¡¡¡¡12¡¡¡¡ only one small part of the product£®Some car factories are now ¡¡¡¡13¡¡¡¡ with having many small production lines rather than one large one, so that each worker contributes more to the production of the cars on his ¡¡¡¡14¡¡¡¡£®It would seem that not only is degree of worker contribution an important factor ¡¡¡¡15¡¡¡¡ it is one we can do something about£®

¡¡¡¡To what ¡¡¡¡16¡¡¡¡ does more money lead to greater productivity? The workers themselves certainly think this is ¡¡¡¡17¡¡¡¡ £®But perhaps they want more money only because the work they do is so boring£®¡¡¡¡18¡¡¡¡ just lets them enjoy their spare time more£®A ¡¡¡¡19¡¡¡¡¡¡argument may explain demands for shorter working hours£®Perhaps if we ¡¡¡¡20¡¡¡¡¡¡making their jobs more interesting, they will neither want more money, nor will shorter working hours be so important to them£®
