While it's not an actual planner or calendar App,if you take notes to stay organized, then Evermote is for you. The main thing about Evernate is that all of your notes are automatically sent into the cloud(云储存平台上)---and then you can access them from any web-connected computer via the Evermote App or a web browser. Evermote also support audio and photo notes-rather handy if you want to record your lecture or take photos of any projected notes. But,of course, ask for permission first.

You can get access to the research databases just on your smartphone or tablet. Wikipanion gives you a simplified version of Wikipedia without leaving out any of the site's extra features. The normal links that you'd see to each section of an article no longer on the main screen. Instead, there's a small icon(图示影像) located at the bottom of the app, which can be used to access all the sections of an article. You can also open the links in Safari(苹果)Safari(浏览器).According to the developers' site, loading Wikipedia pages with Wikipanion is a lot faster than accessing the Wikipedia site from the iPhone's browses(浏览器). To be honest,we agree.

Confidence of the Lion

Three years have passed since I returned from Singapore in 1997.But the wonderful life I had there still lingers in my mind.

When I stepped out of high school,my parents decided to sent me to Singapore to study. They chose the lion city because they thought it was safe and the people well-educated.Most importantly, people in this English-speaking land can also speak Chinese.

They were right. Getting a tourist visa(签证),I flew to the land I longed for. When FiFi,my father's friend, took me home from the airport,I found the lights were so splendid outside, there were tropical trees and plants at each side of the airport express.

But fascination(迷惑)was quickly replaced by nervousness in this English-speaking land.I can still very clearly remember the first day I stepped into the classroom. The easy-going foreign teacher welcomed me and introduced me to his class. But I couldn't understand most of his speech, nor the questions he asked me. I felt quite embarrassed(尴尬).

So I decided to work hard to catch up. So I found my own chances to learn after class--listening to the special BBC English programme every night, watching two English movies each weekend or going to church to listen to English services.

Nine months later when my English was good enough to communicate., Life there was fun. My schoolmates came from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Germany and Thailand.Though the only language we could all communicate in was English, we became good friends.

Five Happiness Secrets For Tough Times

Sonja Lyubomirsky, an author, has researched the science of happiness for years.

Here are her tips to help you cope with a bad economy, and increase your bursts of happiness throughout the day.

1.________

“You could spend a lot of time thinking deeply,” says Lyubomirsky.“But that just makes you feel even more pessimistic, more out of control, and affects your self esteem.Your relationships will suffer and your job performance will suffer.”

Get rid of pessimism. One of the most effective ways to cope when things are difficult is to adopt a positive thinking strategy.“What can I learn from this?Times are tough, I've been furloughed at work, but I can spend more time with the kids, adopt a new hobby, or learn a new set of skills.”

2.________

Now more than ever we need each other to survive.Lyubomirsky found that doing good things for friends, family, or strangers can make you happier.Think of practical, everyday gestures that can make someone's life a little bit easier. For example, Lyubomirsky says, “Maybe now many of us can't afford to take a cab to the airport, so offer to give a friend a ride.”

3.________

You don't need an expert to tell you that relationships are critical to happiness.

Not being the bread-winner anymore or not being able to fulfill your kid's needs can weigh down hard on your family life. But the trick is to stop feeling guilty and focus on caring for your loved ones.

“I was at a psychology conference where an expert was talking about the effects of this economy on families and how parents can't afford to buy their kids luxuries like toys anymore,” says Lyubomirsky.“But what they don't realize is that kids don't care about toys-what they care about is parents being grumpy and taking it out on them.”

4.________

“If you find a happy person you will find a project,” says Lyubomirsky.“Happy people all have goals they care about.”

Commit yourself to a project – whether it is a business you want to start or a dance you want to learn. But it's also important to remember to be flexible in these times.

Don't get frustrated if circumstances are stopping you from meeting your goals.Adopt and change!

“If your spouse has lost their job you might have to change your goal,” says Lyubomirsky.“Or you might have to learn a whole new skill for a new job.”

5.________

When times are tough, it's easy to get skip your regular workouts in favor of moping in front of the TV and eating a bag of chips.Your thinking is “I have more important things to worry about right now than looking good.”

But carve out a small part of your day to give your body some TLC.It will go a long way in boosting your happiness.“Even if you can't afford to go to the gym,”

Lyubomirsky says, “take time out to exercise at home.”

Enter a typical high school, and the first thing you see is the front office, where the principal sits and report cards(学生成绩报告单)are stored. The front office also reinforces familiar rank:principal at the top, teachers in the middle, kids at the bottom, sitting with hands folded at their desks.

Now, imagine a school where the organizational structure is completely flat.At the New Country School in Henderson, Minn., there is no front office.Visitors are immediately embraced by an airy atrium(中庭)that is the centerpiece of this one-room schoolhouse. All around the room,124 students sit at the desks-real office desks-working at their own personal computers on their own projects.

When Dee Thomas and her colleagues get together 15 years ago to design a new high school, they knew there was one thing that had to go:the bell.Thomas said that everyone agreed that the constant interruption of classes caused huge amounts of strain. Moreover, it's just not natural, Thomas said.

There.are no teachers at New Country Adults are viewed as guides to learning.Every few weeks, students must present projects they've been working on to the rest of the school community. To prepare for their presentations, they gather at tables in the middle of the school atrium and then present their work to their guides. In their spare time, students clean the bathrooms and the rest of the school themselves.

Kids at New country test better than their peers on the state tests and on the pre-college ACT.The school sends 90 percent of its graduates to college. But that doesn't tell the whole story.New Country struggles to keep its seniors from leaving. The school's senior project is demanding-300 hours of work.

But for some students, New Country offers a rare alternative, a choice they can't find anywhere else. And the school is constantly visited by educators from around the world looking for new ideas. That's the foundation of efforts to reform American high schools today and there's a need to experiment with an institution that is failing millions of students.
