第三部分:阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)

When I first heard that Zhang Yimou, China’s leading director most well-known for Hero in the West, was remaking the Coen Brothers’ first film, Blood Simple, a question immediately came into my mind: Would A Simple Noodle Story be directed by the good Zhang Yimou or the bad Zhang Yimou? The answer: neither.

Starting with his first time as a cinema-photographer on Yellow Earth right after graduating from film school in the early 80s, everything Zhang shot was inspired. In the late 80s and early 90s, he directed several movies already considered classics, including the banned To Live.

A Simple Noodle Story is set in the late Ming Dynasty (1368--1644), follows several amusing characters working in a restaurant in the faraway, but naturally beautiful, western province of Gansu, Zhang brought together a group of popular comedic(喜剧) actors led by Xiao Shenyang, who shot to fame earlier this year because of his very funny styles. Shenyang’s character, Li Si, is having an affair with his boss’s wife, who is simply called “Boss’ Wife” throughout the movie.

A Simple Noodle Story, which started national Screening Friday, is already bringing in money, scoring a total box office income of 67.1 million yuan($9.83 million) by Sunday morning and is expecting its first weekend to reach 100 million yuan ($14.65 million).

In spite of the box office success, the film has received mixed reviews. Most local media admitted Zhang’s success in entertaining the public, but writer Han Han wrote in his blog that A Simple Noodle Story is more like a long-drawn-out TV comedy and that Zhang has made no improvement in directing since his first film.

In his defense, Zhang said that he was just trying to have fun with the film. “I’m not a master of artistic films. I’m just trying to make a fun movie.”

1. Which of the following about A Simple Noodle Story is wrong?

A. Xiao Shenyang was the host of the film.

B. It has earned a lot of money after being put on.

C. It is about a story happening in the ancient times.

D. Xiao Shenyang became famous because of the character of Li Si.

2. What kind of result has A Simple Noodle Story got?

A. It has earned a little money and bad reviews.

B. It has earned lots of money but bad reviews.

C. It has earned little money but good reviews.

D. It has earned lots of money with good and bad reviews.

3. What does Han Han think of Zhang’s direction?

A. He thinks it’s improved to a higher level.

B. He thinks it can prove Zhang’s new improvement.

C. He thinks it has fallen down to the bottom at the beginning.

D. He thinks Zhang is a master of artistic films.

4. From the last paragraph we know Zhang________.

A. wants to protect himself with fighting words

B. just wants to have fun with a film

C. just wants to make money with a fun film

D. wants to prove his ability to be great director.

Most children now chat daily either online or through their mobile phones. They are connecting to a huge number of other children all over the world. Some are shy “in real life” but are confident to communicate with others online; others find support from people of their own age on relationship issues, or problems at home.

Sometimes the online world, just like the real world, can introduce problems, such as bullying or arguments. Going online is great fun, but there are also a few people who use the Internet for offensive(冒犯性的)or illegal aims. Children must be made aware(意识到的) of both the good things and the dangers.

To keep children safe your management must cover the family computer. Just as you decide which TV programs are suitable, you need to do the same for the websites and chat rooms your children visit. Remind your children that online friends are still strangers. Reminding them of the risks will keep them alert(警惕).

Computer studies are part of schoolwork now, so it’s likely that your children may know more than you do. We get left behind when it comes to the latest gadgets(小玩意)and the interactive areas of websites, like chat rooms and message boards, which are especially strange. The language of chat is strange to many parents, too. Chatters love to use abbreviations(缩写)such as: atb-all the best, bbfn-bye bye for now, cul8er-see you later, gr8-great, Idk-I don’t know, imbl-it must be love, kit-keep in touch, paw-parents are watching, lol-laugh out loud, xlnt-excellent!

It seems like another language, and it is!

A.choose suitable websites and chat rooms for them

A.   Decide to Be Happy

B.   Lower Your Expectations

C.   Learn to Enjoy the Moment

D.   Look for the Good in Everything

E.   Let People Deal with Their Own Problems

F.   Focus More on What You Can Control Than on What You Can’t

So many times I hear people say that they will be happy once a certain event occurs. They think that once they move into a new house, start their new job, travel or retire they will be happy. But it doesn’t work that way.

If you truly want to be happy, here’s what to do.

1

You are not just a victim of circumstances or your emotions. Think about it this way. If you are in a horrible argument with someone, and the person you most respect enters the room, what will happen? The fighting will likely stop immediately, your mood will change, and so will your behavior. You do have control, and you are the one who decides how you will face the day!

2

We are never disappointed unless we have expectations. If you base your emotions on the need for certain things to happen, you will likely be let down most of the time. Instead, work hard, and treat everything good that happens as a bonus for which you can be thankful.

3

Don’t get too wrapped up in issues involving friends or family. We are each responsible for our own lives, and even when someone makes a bad mistake, it is not up to you to make things better. And remember that worry doesn’t help anyone!

4

You might not be satisfied with your income, but there’s no point complaining about it. Improve your diploma so that you can get a better job in the future. You may have an incurable illness, such as diabetes, but the fact that it’s incurable doesn’t mean that it cannot be managed.

5

You don’t have to be a Pollyanna(盲目乐观者)about life, but you can see the bright side of almost every situation if you just make a point of looking for it. Happiness is not an uncatchable mouse! Once you have made up your mind that you are going to be happy despite what is going on around you, the task becomes easier. One of the key things to remember is that happiness doesn’t come from outside but begins on the inside and actually spread outward, and can influence everyone around you in a positive manner.
