I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard my name called for the leading role in our high school play. Mrs. Dermit, my drama(戏剧) teacher, had been looking for someone to play an energetic boy in a play. Luckily for me, she thought that I could act the   1 .

I was nineteen years old the first time I saw my own true character.

My trip to and from work each day included a ten-minute walk through the heart of downtown, where the   36  often gathered. Like most busy citizens, I learned to   37  those nameless faces. I heard the bees long before I saw them.
