Every school has at least(至少) a playground. A playground is a large, open space. There may be a football ground, a basketball field or some tennis courts (网球场) if it is big enough.
Why a school should have a playground? The reason is that there is a place for girls or boys to play games or have sports. After sitting for a long time in the classroom, the girls and boys will be glad to run, jump and shout on the playground. So during playtime we can see many girls and boys are playing happily. Some hop or jump. Some run around or walk round talking. They are so happy that they feel sorry when the bell rings again.
After school, the playground is the most exciting sight(情景) to see. The place is full of life. Boys and girls are playing football, basketball or tennis. When there is a match between classes and schools, the place will be full of excited students.
