Xi’an and Beijing have many monuments and statues of important persons in the long history of China. The most important ones are in Washington, D. C.. The tallest one is the Washington Monument, a very tall building that looks like a spear shooting into the sky. George Washington is called the father of America. He was the general who defeated the British army. He was the first president of the United States in 1789. The largest building is the Lincoln Memorial, where a statue of Abraham Lincoln is sitting in a chair, looking toward the Washington Monument. Lincoln was the president during the American Civil War.
