Young people can have problems with their minds. Some students become worried because they have to study very hard. Others have trouble getting on well with people like their parents and classmates.
Liu, a Junior 2 student from Hefei, could not understand his teacher and was doing badly in class. He became so worried about it that he started to cut his finger(手指) with a knife.
Another student, l4-year-old Yan from Guangzhou, was afraid of exams. She got very worried in one, and when she looked at the exam paper, she couldn't think of anything to write.
A recent report from Jiefang Daily says about 18% of Shanghai teens have mental(精神) problems. Their troubles include(包括) being worried and very unhappy, and having problems in learning and getting on with people.
Many students who have problems won't go for advice(劝告) or help. Some think they will look stupid(愚蠢) if they go to see a doctor. Others don't want to talk about their secret.
Liang Yuezhu, an expert(专家) on teenagers from Beijing Anding Hospital, has the following advice for teens:
*Talk to your parents or teachers often
*Take part in group activities(活动) and play sports
*Go to see a doctor if you feel unhappy or unwell

Another student, 14-year-old Yan from Guangzhou, was afraid of exams.When she looked at the exam papers, she couldn't think of anything to write on them.

Mr Ma, a famous mental doctor from Beijing once said at an important meeting, “Now many young students have problems with their minds. Some students become worried because they have to study very hard. Others have trouble getting on well with people around them like their parents and classmates. Parents and teachers should care more about this problem.”
Then Mr Ma gave some examples. One patient, a middle school students from Xi'an was doing badly in his lessons. He thought his teachers and friends often laughed at him, and he became so nervous and worried that one night he left his home without telling his parents. Another student, a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Shanghai, was very afraid of exams. While she was reading the exam paper, she couldn't think of anything to write.
A recent report from Jiefang Daily says about 18% of the young students in Shanghai have mental problems. They often feel worried and very unhappy. Unluckily many of them won't go and ask for help. Some think they will look stupid if they go to see a doctor. Others won't talk about their secrets.
