题目列表(包括答案和解析)
My daughter finally lost her first tooth. She waited for this moment for more than a year.
Most of the kids in the first grade lost not only one tooth, but several. But my daughter kept waiting impatiently. Then, she finally got a loose (松的) tooth. I never saw her so happy — except on Christmas, Children’s Day or her birthday. Last Friday night, she was eating an apple, and the tooth started to become loose. Minutes later, my daughter shouted happily. The tooth was out!
I cleaned it off and put it under her pillow (枕头). When she went to bed that night, my daughter wondered, “Will the tooth fairy (牙仙) let me keep the tooth?” I told her she might and she’d have to wait and see.
The tooth fairy comes from an old story. It’s believed that when a kid loses his first tooth and puts it under his pillow, the tooth fairy will come to visit him when he is sleeping. If the tooth fairy sees the kid and loves him, she will leave some money under his pillow without taking away the tooth. If she doesn’t think the kid lovely enough, she will still leave some money but take the tooth away.
And then I put a dollar in my bag so that I’d remember to put it under my daughter’s pillow. However, I forgot. Luckily, her dear dad remembered.

People believed for a long time that heart was the center of a person’s emotions. That is why the word “heart” is used in so many expressions about emotional situations.
One such expression is to “lose your heart” to someone. When that happens, you have fallen in love. But if the person who “won your heart” does not love you, then you are sure to have a “broken heart”. In your pain and sadness, you may decide that the person you love is “hard-hearted”, and in fact, has a “heart of stone”.
You may decide to “pour out your heart” to a friend. Telling someone about your personal problems can often make you feel better.
If your friend does not seem to understand how painful your broken heart is, you may ask her to “have a heart”. You are asking your friend to show some sympathy(同情) for your situation. Your friend “has her heart in the right place” if she says she is sorry, and shows great concern(关心).
If your friend says no to you, do not “lose heart”. Be “strong-hearted”. Sit down with him or her and have a “heart to heart” talk. Be open and honest about your situation. Then you may have a “change of heart” Then you could stop worrying and “put your heart at rest”.

Why are you study habits different from those of your friends? Why do you seem to learn faster in some classes while more slowly in others? One reason you may not know is that people have different types. Scientists say there are three different learning types: Visual(视觉型),Auditory(听觉型),and Kinesthetic (动觉型)。
Visual learners learn best by seeing. If you seem to easily remember information from pictures, graphs(图表),and videos, you are probably a visual learner. You’re not good at copying down what the teacher says in class. Never mind. You can draw graphs or pictures instead, if you find that works better for you.
Auditory learners learn best by hearing. If you seem to easily remember things by hearing them, then you are probably an auditory learner. You must listen carefully while the teacher is speaking because it’s the easiest way for you to learn . Sometimes you may find that taking notes tops you from listening carefully. After class, you can write down what you remember or borrow your friend’s notes to copy.
Kinesthetic learners learn best by doing. If you seem to learn best by working with your hands, you are probably a kinesthetic learner. Taking notes by writing can make you pay close attention to information as you receive it. Of course, you can learn best by making full use of labs or other class activities.
Hope you learn better by knowing what your personal learning type is.
