There are many wetlands(湿地)in China and some of them have become the world’s important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of birds and animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve(自然保护区) is in them. More than 700 mile deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes(丹顶鹤) in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Cranes Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife(野生生物)。 Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals and birds is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood(水灾). But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.

Luckily, more and more people are beginning to realize the important of wetlands and wildlife. Every year,on February 2nd,many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.

The population problem may be the most serious challenge against human beings now. It is said that the population passed the six billion mark in the year 1999. And now there are about 6.465 billion in the world. There are more than 1.3 billion in China. Last year the USA gave its latest report on the problem of the world's growing population. The world's birth rate is higher than the death rate.

As the population continues to grow, we are facing more and more problems. Though we have good harvest year after year, millions of people are still in hunger. Lots of buses have been put into use, yet they still remain too crowded. Each year thousands of new buildings are built, but they still can't meet the needs of the people. Much money has been raised to set up one school after another, however, they seem too crowded to hold so many children. Maybe each person will have one half to one square meter of space to live in in the future. There will be hardly enough space for anyone else.
