　　“I’m hungry,” Pat said to his friend, Mike．“Let’s have a meal somewhere．”

　　They walked down the road until they came to an expensive restaurant．

　　“This will be fine,” Pat said．“Just the place we want．”

　　He opened the door and they went inside．The head waiter came up to them at once．

　　“A table for two?” he asked．

　　“Yes．The best table you have．”

　　He took them to a table near a window．He handed them the menu(菜单)and went away．

　　Pat and Mike looked at the menu carefully, then asked for the most expensive dishes．

　　An hour later, they had almost finished their meal．It was one of the best meals they had ever had, and now they were eating their last dish．

　　Suddenly Pat looked carefully at the dish．

　　“What’s this?” he cried, and pointed at something small and black in the dish．The head waiter hurried towards their table．

　　“Look at this!” Pat said to him in a very loud voice．“There’s a dead fly in my dish．How terrible!I thought this was a good restaurant, but I was wrong．”

　　The head waiter was very embarrassed(难堪的)．“Please, sir, do not speak so loudly．I am so sorry about the fly．I’m afraid such an accident may happen, even in the best restaurants．You need not, of course, pay for your meal．”

　　Soon after this, Mike and Pat were walking past another restaurant．

　　“Let’s go in and have a drink,” Pat said．“I’ve got one fly left．”

　　“I’m hungry,” said Kelly as she and Sheila walked home from school．

　　“You’re always hungry,” Sheila said, “We’ll have something when we get to my house．”

　　Kelly looked at Sheila, who was walking quickly down the sidewalk．Sheila had long, beautiful red hair and always wore nice clothes．Kelly had short hair and many of her clothes were hand-me-downs．

　　No one was home when they got to Sheila’s house．No one ever seemed to be home at Sheila’s house．Kelly had two sisters and a brother．“It must be amazing to have the whole house to yourself．I’m lucky if I can be alone for five minutes,” said Kelly．

　　“Well, I can do whatever I want．Do you want to order a pizza? There’s nothing in the fridge．”There was never anything in Sheila’s fridge．

　　“That’s okay,” said Kelly．“I have to go home for dinner soon．”

　　“But I would go crazy if people were telling me what to do all the time．”

　　“Well, you’re lucky,” said Kelly．Sheila was lucky．She had perfect hair, perfect clothes, a perfect house．“I would give anything to be Sheila for just one day,” thought Kelly．

　　The phone rang．“Hi, Mom,” Kelly heard Sheila say．“No, it’s okay．I understand．”She hung up．“My mom’s having dinner out again,” she said．“Are you sure you can’t stay for pizza?”

　　“Sorry．I have to go or I’ll be late for dinner,” said Kelly．

　　“Whatever．See you．”

　　Kelly saw Sheila looking out of the window as she walked down the street．Suddenly, Sheila’s house looked very big, and Sheila looked very small．

　　An old woman opens her windows and looks out．What a sunny day! But she is surprised there is a man in the front garden．The old woman looks at him and says to herself, “He is eating grass．Why?” She goes out into her garden and says to him, “Are you very hungry? Why don't you go to work and get some food?, , The man looks at her and says, “I don't like working．I just like eating．Now I'm hungry．I have nothing for my breakfast．You see! I, m eating grass．Can you give me some food?”

　　The old woman says, “Come to the back door of my house．”The man is very pleased(高兴的)．He thinks he can get food from the old woman．So he goes with her．The old woman opens the back door and says to the man．“Look! The grass here is longer(更长的)than that in the front garden．Just enjoy it here!”
