                                            KINGS HOTEL-CUSTOMER COMMENTS
I cannot say enough good things about the Kings Hotel. Till rooms were large, clean and comfortable
and the hotel workers were excellent. They were even able to book several sightseeing trips to different
parts of the city for us. Next time I come to London I will certainly be staying there again.
Bob smith Manchester, UK: February 2008
The hotel 'a restaurant made the best food I have ever tasted. I am still dreaming about their roast beef
and potatoes. I had it for lunch and dinner almost every day I was there. I wanted to have it for breakfast too,
but it wasn't on the breakfast menu. The restaurant was a little expensive and the waiters were a bit careless
but I still think the hotel was great.
Rachel Jones New York, USA: December 2007
I just want to tell visitors something about the swimming pool, at the Kings Hotel. When I was there, the
water was very dirty, almoshgreen. It really made me feel sick. When my drink fell in the water I asked the
worker if I could have another one. After waiting for half an hour he still had not brought me one so I returned
to my room.... At least the room was very nice.
Michael Palin Sydney, Australia: August 2007
This time last year I was in London for the first time and stayed at this hotel. I found the workers there
to be very friendly and helpful. The manager kindly gave me directions to the London Museum and Big Ben
and one time he even had a worker take me to the train station entrance. My room was also wonderful and
from the window Icould see the Thames River.
Ma Li Beijing, China: June 2007
£6 for a cup of coffee in the cafe! £ 3 for a postcard in the gift shop! £ 33 for a T-shirt from the
clothes store! I will never be coming back here. That's for certain.

Clean water is not only important for people to produce food, but necessary for our life. However, many people in Asia and Africa don’t have enough clean water to use. The World Health Organization reports that almost 4,000 children die each day of dirty water or lack of water.
Farmers use 70%~85% of the world fresh water to produce food. People usually don’t pay much attention to how much water industry (工业) uses, but you may be surprised to know that industry uses 59% of the water in developed countries.
Home use takes up only 8% in the world. But as cities grow, more water will be used. The local government has to try to make people use less water.
In 60% of European cities, people are saving water by using less. They even keep waste water for other use.
In Australia, the government has encouraged people to collect rainwater and recycle water from showers for a second use.
The US Environmental Protection Agency has made a water saving program to encourage families and businesses to check their water use and save more water. Scientists and the UN are looking for good water management as the key to solving the problem. We can all work together to protect our fresh water in our daily life.

Did you know that each day one person in the US throws away 4.4 pounds of rubbish? Almost every month, we throw away our own rubbish in packaging alone. Packaging ( including boxes, bags, etc) comes to our homes with the things we have bought. Several weeks ago, the TV news said that in a city in Italy tons of rubbish were piled up in the streets, and the smell was rather terrible. What can we do to help? We should get to know the following Rs.

Reduce  To reduce means to make less rubbish. That is one of the first things we all should do for the environment. Reduce your rubbish by doing things like packing your lunch in reusable containers(可在利用的容器), taking smaller potions(份) at dinner so you don’t waste food when you have had enough, writing on both sides of paper, and using less water when taking a shower.

Reuse   To reuse is to use things again. Think about the bags you get from the store. They can be reused to carry your lunch, to hold your rubbish, or to collect used cans. You can even take them back to the store the next time to carry your things instead of getting a new bag!

Recycle (回收利用)  Recycling is an important part of keeping our planet clean and green. It can also save energy. Be sure that you don’t throw things in the rubbish that can be recycled to make something else. Paper, plastic, cans and bottles can all be recycled, but food, electrical waste and mobile phones can’t. When you are not sure whether something can be recycled, go to your parents and teachers for advice.

Follow the three Rs, and every one of us can do something to save the earth. It is also the best way to save ourselves.
