One day, there was a blind man sat on the steps of a building with a sign by his feet that read: "I am blind, please help." The kind and creative artist was walking by the blind man and stopped to observing that the man only had a few coins in his hat. He put a few of his own coins in the hat, and with stopping to ask for permission, took the sign, turned it around, and wrote a new message. He had then placed the sign by the feet of the blind man, and left. Late that afternoon the artist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was almost complete full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footstep and asked if it was her who had changed his sign. He also wanted to know why the man wrote on it. The blind man didn't know that his new sign read as this: "It's spring now, but I can't see it.

 

One cold, rainy night in 1979, staying on the deck of the nuclear attack submarine(核攻击潜艇) USS Birmingham entering Hampton Roads Harbor, a soldier who was called Jeff Harris was suddenly hit by a huge wave that took away his ship’s ball cap.

Months later, while walking along Chesapeake Boulevard beach in Hampton, Will Miller, a Vietnam veteran(退伍军人) and Navy(海军) commander, happened to find Harris’ cap which was half-buried in the sand then. “This is Jeff Harris,” the voice on the phone said. “You have my hat!”

The two sailors talked for almost half an hour, telling sea stories to each other and thinking of the common relationship between seamen.”

“Most non-seagoing people wouldn’t understand how much a sailor likes his hat,” Miller said. “Your hat protects you from sun, wind, salt and cold, and when you lose it, especially one with your ship’s name on it, it’s a big thing. I’m delighted to get it back to Jeff.”

A car drew up outside the Swan Hotel and a young man got out．Pausing only for a moment to see that he had come to the right place，he went into the hotel and rang the bell on the counter of the bar．
