Robert Edwards was blinded in a car accident (事故) nine years ago. He also had poor hearing because of old age. One day he was walking near his home when a thunderstorm(雷雨) was coming. He stayed away from the rain under a tree and was struck by lightning(闪电) . He was knocked to the ground and woke up some 20 minutes later, lying face down in water below the tree. He went into the house and lay down in bed. A short time later he awoke; he couldn't move his legs and he was trembling, but, when he opened his eyes, he could see the clock across the room appearing from time to time in front of him. When his wife entered, he saw her for the first time in nine years. Doctors believe that he has regained(恢复) his sight obviously from the flash of lightning, but they are unable to explain the happening. The only possible explanation(解释) offered (提供) by one doctor was that, since Edwards lost his sight as a result of trauma (创伤) in a terrible accident, perhaps the only way it could be regained was by another trauma.
