In his letter, he thanked me again and informed me that, from then on, all their buses would stop at my service station. In this case, a little bit of kindness was rewarded with a huge amount of benefits.

A group of graduates got together to visit their old university professor.
The conversation soon turned into complaints about  36  in work and life. Offering his  37  coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and  38  with a large pot of coffee and a  39  of cups---porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain-looking, some expensive, some beautiful—telling them to  40  themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said, “if you have  41 , all the nice-looking expensive cups have been  42 , leaving behind the plain and  43  ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the  44  of your problems and stress.”
“Be assured that the cup  45  adds no quality to the coffee.  46  it is just more expensive and in some cases  47  hides what we drink.”
48  all of you really want is coffee, not the cup,  49  you consciously went for the best cups…. And then you began  50  each other’s cups.”
Now consider this:  51  is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. 52  are just tools to hold and contain life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the  53  of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we  54  to enjoy the coffee. Value the coffee, not the cups! Don’t let the cups  55 you … enjoy the coffee instead.

The House Fairy
As young parents, my husband and I felt that at age 6 and 8, our children were old enough to be cleaning their rooms and making their beds. But they thought   36  . My complaints, repeating myself, even self-justified shouting were landing on   37   ears. I felt frustrated (沮丧的) , and very often a whole afternoon’s scolding would end with their   38   into tears, I realized I needed to   39   my methods of “mothering”.
One day while they were at school, I had great fun   40   their rooms. On their desks, in plain   41  , I left the cards: “Dear Bill (the other card was   42   to Sarah), your room was messy this morning and I’m sure you like it clean. Love, the House Fairy.”   43   arriving back, the children were   44  excited to receive the little note from the House Fairy. The next day, their rooms were fairly tidy. Sure enough, there was another note from the House Fairy         45   for them, thanking them for their nice “gift” of a clean room and   46   asking them to play a certain violin   47 . Each day, thank--you notes would be worded differently to keep the ideas   48  .
Sometimes the House Fairy would propose a little   49  : “If you can finish your homework today and   50   it before dinner, I’ d like to watch a particular television program with you tonight.” Sometimes some colored markers or other little items would be left in   51
of jobs especially well done the day   52  .
53   I can’t remember how long “the House Fairy” continued leaving her love notes. When they were no longer age appropriate (合适的), we used various versions of Post-Its. The bathroom mirror became the   54   centre of our home. Appointments, notices about visiting relatives, lesson schedules, and changes in plans could be posted.
We all benefited from and   55   the idea of sharing reminders and daily details of life through notes. I believe the true legacy of the House Fairy notes survives in our frequent and enjoyable communication.

Whenever my kids have a party at school, I am the mom who always signs up to bring the juice boxes. It’s not because I’m   26  or that I don’t care if my kids have a good party. I am just not good at making homemade bread into holiday-themed shapes like other mothers.   27 , I’m happy to try, even though it’ll   28  me a long time to do it.
People say that housewives should have the   29  to make delicious meals, keep their houses clean, and   30  every minute of their child’s life. Their words used to   31  me a lot. I felt that I should also be able to do those things as a housewife. So   32  I couldn’t make the turkey-shaped cookies, I   33  feeling like a failure as a mom.
After many   34  attempts at baking, and many afternoons spent crying over my inabilities as a mother, I finally accepted the   35  that my lot(命运) in life is to be the juice box mom. I worked hard to be the   36  one in the elementary school. And after one of my daughter’s class parties, it   37 . Her teacher stopped me as I was leaving and said,"Thank you so much for always bringing   38  drinks. Sometimes parents forget that other children will also   39  class parties, and they end up being left out because we don’t have enough   40  for everyone."
I just accepted her appreciation, rather than telling her that I brought extra drinks because I could   41  remember how many kids were in the class. But her   42  taught me an important lesson: I’m not a failure as a mom.
Not everyone is cut out to be a(n)   43  mom. I believe it’s okay to be the juice box mom. I may not bake cookies and decorate them beautifully, but I   44  something to drink. And I think that’s just as   45 .
