题目列表(包括答案和解析)
There's a lot of discussion these days about healthy kids. People who care (parents, doctors, teachers, and others) want to know how to help kids be more healthy.
Being healthy is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity (exercise), and has a healthy weight. If you're healthy, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do. Here are five rules to live by, if you're a kid who wants to be healthy.
Eat a Variety of Foods, Especially Fruits and Vegetables. You may have a favorite food, but the best choice is to eat a variety. If you eat different foods, you're more likely to get the nutrients(营养) your body needs. Taste new foods and old ones you haven't tried for a while. Get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day — two fruits and three vegetables.
Drink Water and Milk Most Often. When you're really thirsty, cold water is the No. 1 for you. Kids need calcium(钙)to build strong bones, and milk is a great source of this mineral. How much do kids need? Aim for 3 cups of milk per day. You can mix it up by having milk and some other calcium-rich dairy foods .
Be Active. One job you have as a kid — and it's a fun one — is that you get to figure out which activities you like best. Not everyone loves baseball or soccer. Ask your parents to help you do your favorite activities regularly. Find ways to be active every day. You might even write down a list of fun stuff to do, so you can refer to it when your mom or dad says it's time to stop watching TV or playing computer games!

Rich or poor, we all have problems: that unfaithful mate, that irritating(恼人的) colleague, that persistent disease, the investment that is turning into a huge loss.
How do we remain calm, positive and even elegant in the face of all these difficulties of life?
The following suggestions may help.
It comes with the pay. I have a friend who used to complain about her dead-end job and unreasonable boss. Sound familiar? One day I told her. "Look at it this way. You are getting paid for the annoyance as well as the work. It comes with the pay."
This has become my favorite saying for work-related frustrations. "Take every day as a bonus." When we learn to treasure every moment of what we have, we begin to see life in a whole new perspective.
It's all in the mind. Sure, the psychologists tell us it is important we work at resolving problems. But they also say if you try to resolve a problem that would not go away, it would only compound(使更复杂) the frustration.
If you tell yourself there isn't a problem, there won't be one. It's all in the mind.
Stop thinking about your own problem—help others instead. A lady who is combating a life-threatening disease revealed she coped with her illness by making herself useful, by offering help to others in a similar situation.
She has spoken to at least five other women with breast cancer. She says that the sharing has helped her to find fresh meaning in her own life.
Never give up on your dream. Why do we give in and give up when we meet difficulties? Is it because we have no confidence in our cause and no commitment for what we pursue?
It was said that Albert Einstein's last request on his death bed was to be given his equations and his unfinished statement declining the presidency of Israel.
Einstein first picked up his equations and lamented to his son, "If only I had more mathematics!" What a great persistent spirit!
One strong-hearted lady was the late head of the tragic Kennedy family, Rose Kennedy. She said this on nationwide television one week after losing yet another son to an assassin's bullet—Boddy Kennedy: "And we go on our way with no regrets not looking backwards to the past, but we shall carry on with courage."
Not the end of the world. Do you know something else? I've learned that care as you might, love as you might, some people just don't care back.
And it's not the end of the world. After all, it's not the event that makes a person, is it? It's what we do about that happens to us.

This past week, the world lost an icon and I lost one of my favorite musicians when Michael Jackson, 50, died of a heart attack on June 25. Jackson, a famous person nearly all his life, was admired by fans for signature dance moves like the Moonwalk and his album Thriller, which has sold over 100 million copies.
One of the greatest hits from Thriller is Beat It. In the song, Jackson sings: “Just beat it, beat it/ No one wants to be defeated/ It doesn’t matter who’s wrong or right/ Just beat it, beat it!”
Just what does he mean?
“Beat it” is a very common expression with a few different meanings. One of the most popular is the command form, which is similar to “Get out of here!” or “Get out of my face, stop bothering me!” You might tell your dog to “beat it” when he keeps begging you for food.
“Beat it” can also be used as a suggestion, to describe the act of leaving suddenly: “This party is so boring, let’s beat it.”
The expression can be taken more literally, in its traditional sense of “ to strike or hit something”: “Tell me the answer before I beat it out of you.”
“To beat” also means “to win”. “She struggled with her illness, and in the end she beat it.” When Jackson sings, “No one wants to be defeated…Just beat it!” he may be encouraging his audience to overcome their struggles. Or maybe he means the opposite: that it’s better to run than stay and fight. Just beat it!
The underlined word “icon” in the first paragraph most probably means ______.
A. a small symbol on a computer screen that represents a programme
B. a famous person or thing that people admire and see as a symbol of a particular idea etc.
C. a person who has talent in songs or music
D. a man or woman who is very good-looking in appearance
The author mentions Michael Jackson mainly to _____.
A. show his or her honor to him
B. inform readers of his death
C. introduce the expression “beat it”
D. get us to know more about his career
According to the passage the expression “Beat it” has all the following meanings EXCEPT “_____”.
A. Away with you! B. Get out of my face!
C. See or understand D. Win
What’s the purpose of the writer’s writing this passages?
A. To make the expression “Beat it” known.
B. To tell us that Michael Jackson’ death is a great loss to the world.
C. To show the origin of the expression “Beat it”.
D. To amuse or entertain readers.
