题目列表(包括答案和解析)

Smart job-seekers need to rid themselves of several standard myths about interviewing before they start looking for a job. What follows is a list of some of these untruths and some tips to help you do your best at your next interview.

Myth 1: The aim of interviewing is to obtain (means “get”) a job offer.

Only half true. The real aim of an interview is to obtain the job you want. That often means rejecting job offers you don’t want! So before you please an employer, be sure you want the job.

Myth 2: Always please the interviewer

Not true. Try to please yourself. Of course, don’t be hostile—nobody wants to hire someone disagreeable. But there is plainly a muddle ground between being too ingratiating(逢迎)and being hostile.

Myth 3: Try to control the interview

Nobody “controls” an interview. When someone tries to control us, we resent(憎恨)it. When we try to control others, they resent us. Remember you can’t control what an employer thinks of you, just as he can’t control what you think of him. So he is ready to give and take when being interviewed; never control the interview.

Myth 4: Never interrupt the interviewer

Study the style of the effective conversationalists: they interrupt and are interrupted! An exciting conversation always makes us feel free—free to interrupt, to disagree, to agree enthusiastically. Just hang loose. Try being yourself for a change. Employers will either like or dislike you, but at least you’ll have made an impression. Leaving an employer indifferent(冷漠的)is the worst impression you can make.

To be your natural self in a job interview will__________.

A. make your interviewer angry                  B. please your interviewer

       C. leave an impression on the interviewer    D. leave the interviewer indifferent to you

For job seekers, efforts to control the interview are likely to __________.

       A. affect the interviewer’s opinion of them

       B. lead to the offer of a job

       C. enable them to express themselves fully

       D. help to create a favorable image of themselves

The most important thing to keep in mind when being interviewed for a job is to _________.

       A. try to obtain the job                              B. reject the job first

       C. qualify yourself for the job                           D. see if it is a job you want

The right attitude to a job interviewer is to be _________.

       A. obedient                   B. hostile               C. pleasing                   D. agreeable

“hang loose” in last paragraph means to _________.

       A. stay calm and relaxed                                   B. become weak and passive

       C. take charge                                           D. sit back comfortably

When you close your eyes and try to think of the shape of your own body, what you imagine (or rather, what you feel) is quite different from what you see when you open your eyes and look in the mirror. The image you feel is much vaguer(模糊的) than the one you see. And if you lie still, it is quite hard to imagine yourself as having any particular size or shape.
When you move, when you feel the weight of your arms and legs and the natural resistance of the objects around you, the “felt” image of yourself starts to become clearer. It is almost as if it were created by your own actions and the feelings they cause.
The image you create for yourself has rather strange proportions(部分); certain parts feel much larger than they look. If you get a hole in one of your teeth, it feels enormous; you are often surprised by how small it looks when you inspect it in the mirror.
Although the “felt” image may not have the shape you see in the mirror, it is much more important. It is the image through which you recognize your physical existence in the world. In spite of its strange proportions, it is all one piece, and since it has a consistent right and left and a top and bottom, it allows you to locate new feelings when they occur. It allows you to find your nose in the dark and point to a pain.
If the felt image is damaged for any reason—if it is cut in half or lost as it often is after certain strokes (中风)which wipe out recognition of one entire side –these tasks become almost impossible. What is more, it becomes hard to make sense of one’s own visual appearance. If one half of the “felt” image is wiped out or injured, the patient stops recognizing the affected part of his body. It is hard for him to find the location of feelings on that side, and, although he feels the doctor’s touch, he locates it as being on the undamaged side.

I find some of the ways in which Chinese parents show love for their children rather surprising. Obviously there are some pretty big differences between our behaviors and theirs in this respect. Most Chinese children seem to get whatever they want, from ice creams, sweets and toys to endless attention from the adults around them. Is this a sort of spoiling or love? I wonder.

Most westerners would think it is a sort of spoiling rather than love. We think love means educating your children and bringing them up to lead an independent life. That includes learning to accept the fact that he can't get everything he wants. As an adult, he will not always get the quite expensive car he hunts for; she will not always manage to acquire the beautiful dress she longs for. So we try to teach our children early to cope with the disappointment of not getting what they want.

I find too much such kind of love for the children can actually spoil them. To my surprise, it seems that the life of a Chinese child is rather hard. Without doubt, the child is the very center of a whole circle of adults, but on the other hand he or she is also expected to start studying according to adults' wishes. Many children of my son's age take piano lessons, painting classes and even English lessons. It looks as if Chinese adults think that just playing without learning anything is a waste of time. So in this respect our children appear spoiled, just because they are allowed to play. But without this sort of play how can western children develop such free and rich imaginations? In fact the connection between this imagination and the creativity is so important in the children’s future life.

1.In which way do most Chinese children seem to be spoiled?

A. They can be supported by their parents.

B. They can play whenever they want.

C. They need not behave themselves.

D. Their demands can always be satisfied.

2.In the author's opinion, the life of a Chinese child is         .

A. rather hard         B. rather easy         C. independent        D. colorful

3.The author thinks Western children appear spoiled because         .

A. they can manage time by themselves

B. they can have the freedom to play

C. they can take piano lessons

D. they may have expensive toys

4.The best title of the passage could be         .

A. Chinese children's early education

B. How to develop kids' imagination

C. What is the real love for children

D. The imagination and creativity
