HAMBURG-Germans like to spend their leisure (闲暇) time with friends in a generally cozy (舒适的) atmosphere, according to a nationwide survey published in the mass-circulation (发行量大) Sonntag newspaper.
Four out of five of those asked put meeting friends at the top of the list of things they like doing most in their spare time (78 per cent).
Visits to a restaurant are popular too (71 per cent), followed by going to the cinema (62 per cent), or going out for a drink at a pub or bar (61 per cent).
The top of the after-work pursuits list for the 21 to 30-year-olds is visiting friends (90 per cent) compared to 78 per cent for the 14 to 20-year-olds.
“In the 1990s a person’s circle of colleagues (同事 ) was his modern family, now it’s his or her friends,” said Hamburg trend scout, professor Peter Wippermann, 52.
