Welcome to Yellow Stone National Park. Before we start our nature walk today, I'd like to give you a brief introduction to our national park service. The national park service began in the late 1800s. A small group of people found the land now called Yellow Stone, and after hours of discussion around the campfire, they decided that it should not enjoyed by everyone. Two years later, the government declared it the first national park in the world. After it became a national park, many other areas of beautiful scenery were set aside. And in 1916, these parks became to be managed by the national park service. I am now employed by the national park service, and I am on duty at all time to answer questions and help any visitors with any difficulty. Nature walks, guided tours and campfire talks are offered by specially trained members. The park service also protects the animals and plants within the parks.
