陕西省宝鸡中学10-11学年高二上学期期中考试

A

I felt excited, curious and nervous at the same time. I was excited because I would be skipping(跳级)two grades. I was curious because I didn't know how high school students were taught. However, I was most nervous at the idea that I would be doing high school homework.

I had just walked into the class when the bell rang. This wasn't a good start. But the kid in front of me looked very friendly. Luckily, since it was the first day of school, my teacher talked for about half of the period and we just had the rest of the period to start the class. I didn't know what he was saying at first, but when I saw the problems on the paper, I knew what to do.

The next day, the kid said hi and I said hi back. We got into a conversation. It seemed that whenever I was talking to my friend, everyone stopped staring at (盯着看)me. Then the class started. It was easy. But I was still uncomfortable because I couldn't look around without meeting others’eyes, so I just kept my eyes on the whiteboard and on my textbook.

However, my friend didn't show up the next day, and the eighth graders just kept on staring at me. I didn't know why.

The next day everything changed. My friend was back to school. I was praised for my homework. Everyone stared at me less. Some started to be a little friendlier towards me. I felt at home at last here. My teachers also seemed pretty nice.

A. people are more likely to be attacked by animals B. running away is a good way to save yourself

C. gas should be cut off D. adults should try to persuade children to keep silent

答案:64-67 CABA

D

Dear Earthmen,

I have enjoyed my stay on your interesting unusual planet. I think I understand the life on earth now and I would like to give you my impressions.

First of all you live in boxes. Every morning you leave your big boxes and get into smaller boxes on wheels (车轮) . All these small boxes race round and round, and finally stop to rest. You then leave these boxes on wheels and go to very large tall boxes.

After testing all day you get back in your little boxes and return to your big boxes. There you sit and stare at tiny glowing boxes with moving pictures on the front.

Only one thing puzzled me. One day I went to a football game. A bunch of angry boys fought over a little round ball. Everyone shouted loudly for them to stop but they kept on fighting. They were angry, I suppose, about being cooped up (被关起来) in boxes all day .

Thank you earthmen for this chance to get to know you.

                           Gratefully,

The man from the Mars (火星)

What is a flood and where does it happen?

A flood occurs when water pours over dry land. Floods can cause big damage when they happen unexpectedly.

Heavy rain can cause floods. If a lot of rain falls quickly, the earth is unable to soak (吸入) it up, and the water builds up on the ground. When it runs off into the rivers, the rivers overflow their banks.

The worst floods happen on land that is flat and low-lying. These areas of land are known as flood plains (漫滩).Mud, earth, and large objects, like cars, can be carried long distances by flood waters. Then, disease spreads quickly because the flood water is polluted.

What should I know if I live on a flood plain?

● Stay away from flood water. It may be polluted.

● Do not walk through moving water. It can knock you off your feet. If you must walk through water, walk where the water is not moving. Use a stick to test the ground in front of you.

● Stay away from power lines that are on the ground. You could be electrocuted (电死).

● If you are scared, share your fears with an adult. Floods can be terrible, but remember-the water ALWAYS goes away!

What dangers does a flood lead to?

● Electrocution from power lines

● Dangerous animals coming out

● Drowning

What should I do if a flood happens?

● Get to the meeting place of your family.

● Try to get to higher ground.

● Listen to your family and follow all instructions carefully.
