Dear Tom,
In your last e-mail, you showed a great interest in our National Stadium - the Bird’s Nest. Now I’d like to introduce it to you.
The Bird’s Nest is located on North Fourth Ring Road in Beijing, and covers an area of 58,000 square meters, with a seating capacity of about 90 thousand. Its construction was started in December 2003 and will be completed in 2007. It looks just like a bird’s nest made of tree branches. During the Olympic Games, we will host the track and field events and soccer matches there. After the Games it will be used for large-scale events.
The Bird’s Nest is thought highly of by officials and experts all over the world. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan gives the thumbs-up to its design and thinks that it will be an incredible symbolism in the history of the global Games.
Wish that my introduction satisfies you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming
开放作文:(15分)
根据下面英文提示写一篇短文。词数不少于50。
While traveling in Shanghai, Li Ming had his wallet stolen. He lost almost everything except a five-yuan note. How could he get home in Beijing? Please think of at least TWO solutions to help him get back to Beijing.
First Li Ming could call his parents. Maybe some of their friends live in Shanghai. His parents’ friends would lend him some money and buy a train ticket for him, so he could get back Beijing.
If the first idea failed to work, Li Ming could go to the police station and ask the police to give him a hand. They might be kind enough to lend him some money, and his parents could refund it later. Or he could stay at a hotel for one or two days, waiting for his parents to send him some money.
