   The good news is that there are better ways to build an academic English vocabulary.

   Vocabulary learning system

   The first thing to do is to develop an organized, but easy means of collecting and learning new words. We recommend a card system that includes the following information:

   Word – Simple Definition in English – Phrase or Sentence – Related Words – Synonyms (同义词) and Antonyms (反义词) – with a Chinese translation on the reverse (背面) of the card.

   The advantage of this system is that with a single card, a student can learn not just one word but a group of related words.

   Keep your cards on a detachable (可分离的) metal ring, so you can carry them around and add to your collection daily.

The cat is a fine house pet and it fits neatly into human habitation (居住地) without requiring its own cage. They are wonderful hunters, if there are rats around

Pets satisfy man’s desire to care for a bit of nature. The pet owner has the responsibility for supplying those needs that nature provides. Pets are amusing and entertaining, but we are in a way doing animals harm by making them live in a human environment. Are we not enslaving（奴役）them?

The most exciting kind of education is also the most personal． Nothing can exceed （超越) the joy of discovering for yourself something that is important to you! It may be an idea or a bit of information you come across accidentally—or a sudden insight, fitting together pieces of information or working through a problem． Such personal encounters are the “payoff” in education． A teacher may direct you to learning and even encourage you in it—but no teacher can make the excitement or the joy happen． That's up to you．
