Much of our good health depends on the cooperation(协同作用) between substances(物质). When they work together ,chemical reactions(反应) take place smoothly. Body systems are kept in balance. Some of the most important helpers in the job of good health are the substances we call vitamins.
Vitamin A is needed to produce a light –sensitive substance in the eyes. People who do not get enough vitamin A can’t see well in the dark. The best source(来源) of vitamin A is fish liver oil. It is also found in the yellow part of eggs. What’s more, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots and other darkly colored fruits and vegetables contain substances that the body can change into vitamin A.
Vitamin B-1 is also called thiamine. It changes starchy foods into energy. It also helps the heart and nervous system work smoothly. Without it, we would be weak and would not grow. Thiamine is found not just in whole grains like brown rice, but also in other foods. These include beans and peas, nuts and meat and fish.
VitaminB-12 is needed so folic acid can do its work. Together , they help produce red blood cells. Without them, a person suffers from anemia(贫血)。VitaminB-12 is found naturally in foods such as eggs, meat, fish and milk products.
Vitamin C is necessary for strong bones and teeth, and for healthy blood vessels. It also helps wounds heal quickly. The body stores very little Vitamin C. so we must get it very day in foods such as citrus, tomatoes and uncooked cabbage.

Dreams can happen in any of the four stages of sleep. The most memorable and clearest dreams happen in the last stage of sleep (also known as REM sleep). The sleep cycle repeats about four to five times every night. So you can see how a person has several different dreams in one night. Most people only remember dreams that happen closer to the morning when they are about to wake up. That you can’t remember those dreams does not mean they never happened.
The stages in the sleep cycle are organized by the changes in different brain activities.

Stage 1: You are entering into light sleep. In this stage, your eyes move rapidly. We call this NREM. The body gets relaxed and your body temperature lowers. Your heart rate lowers, too. The body is preparing to enter into deep sleep.
Stage 2: Also characterized by NREM. In this stage, the body temperature and heart rate drop again. You are completely asleep.
Stage 3: Still in the NREM stage, this is a deeper sleep still.
Stage 4: In this stage of sleep, your eyes move back or forward. We call it REM sleep. This stage happens at about 90-100 minutes after the beginning of sleep. Your blood pressure rises, heart rate speeds up. The majority of your dreams happen in this stage.
These stages repeat themselves throughout a night’s sleep.

Our nearest neighbor is the moon. In the sky,  the moon and the sun seem to be of the same size because the moon is much nearer.
The moon makes the tides—the changes in the level of the sea. The moon and the sun together pull the sea. In some parts of the world,  the difference between * high tide' (when the sea is very near to the land) and ' low tide' (when the sea is far away from the land) is very big. This is very important for ships.
The moon is very different from the Earth. Gravity on the moon is six times weaker than that on the Earth. There isn't any air. During the day,  it is very,  very hot but at night it is very,  very cold. Nothing can live on the moon.
If the moon goes between the Earth and the sun,  we have an eclipse of the sun(日食) . The moon stops the light from the sun and we have night in the day.
If the Earth goes between the moon and the sun,  we have an eclipse of the moon. The moon goes into the shadow( 影) of the Earth and it disappears for a few minutes.
