I am a girl with short hair and I like to wear shorts and a T-shirt in summer. Black and brown are my favorite colors. I speak in a loud voice. I play ball in the same way the boys do on the sports ground. I'm not as gentle as a girl.

I didn't feel any different until last year when I experienced some shopping embarrassment.

I went into a store with my mother on a hot summer day. My mother found a pink blouse on the shelf and asked the shop assistant, "Excuse me, do you have this in a size M?"

    "Yes," the sale assistant replied.

"Could you bring it to her?" My mother said, pointing at me, "She'd like to try it on."

"SHE?" the sale assistant asked, frowning (皱眉头) and staring at me.

"SHE?" she asked again in a surprised tone.

"Yes, she's my little girl," my mother said, patting me on the head.

"Oh, I just thought she was a-a boy!" the girl giggled (咯咯的笑) .

My face turned hot and I felt very embarrassed.

"Try it on, please," she said in a friendly voice after noticing my discomfort.

I glanced at (一瞥)  the blouse and said, " Mum, I don't like it and I'm not going to try it on”

"Why not? I think you would look pretty wearing it," my mother said.

"Er-r, I don't like the color, I said vaguely, hoping to leave the shop as soon as possible.

After we got outside, my mum said to me affectionately(充满深情的), "My dear, (A)I know what' s the shop assistant said just now hurt you a little bit. But don't be so upset. You're always my precious girl, no matter what you are. Just act how you like."

My mum put me at ease (舒坦) . What is a girl supposed to be like? And what is a boy supposed to be like? Is it true that what 1 look like is exactly what I am? (B)I don't care what you think of me. I'm me.

In the United States, it is not usual to telephone someone very early in the morning. If you telephone him early in the day, while he is taking a shower .or having breakfast, the time of the call shows the matter is very important and requires attention at once. If someone receives a call after 11: 00 p. m., he thinks it is a matter of life and death. The time chosen for the call communicates its importance.

In social life, time plays a very important part. In the USA, guests will feel they are not highly regarded if the invitation to a dinner party is only three or four days before the party date. In other areas of the world, it may be considered foolish to make an appointment too early because plans that are made for a date more than a week away will be forgotten. The meaning of time is different in different parts of the world. Therefore, misunderstandings appear between people from different cultures that treat time differently. Being on time is thought of highly in American life.(A) If people are not on time, they may be regarded as impolite. In the USA, keeping business companies waiting for an hour is too impolite. What is the top hit single of 2006? It′s "Don′t Wanna Grow Up "!

Taiwan girl band S.H.E took home the gold hit award at the 2006 Hong Kong TVB8 Top Chart Awards (金曲榜) last week, with "Don't Wanna Grow Up" from their eighth album "Once Upon A Time".

It′s the first time S.H.E has won the award. The three members, Selina, He be and Ella were all very excited about it. They not only performed the song at the award ceremony, but also offered big hugs (拥抱) when giving awards to their artists.

"Don′t Wanna Grow Up" is a song with light tunes (旋律) and easy lyrics.

It′s music writer Zuo Arian used the tunes from Mozart's Symphony No.40 as the refrain (副歌). That gives the song a very classical feeling.

The song had been quite popular among high school students since it came out. Xiao Xue, a Junior 3 student from Shanghai, said that she often hums the refrain part herself.

"I like the lyrics, too," she said, "I often wish that I could go back to my childhood, when I had enough time to play and didn′t have to worry about all the exams."

S.H.E said that the song also expresses their true feelings. Their rocking success in the past six years has led to the three young girls heavy workloads and forced then to grow up quickly. 〝When we. first, started singing, we were quite relaxed and we had our own musical dreams," said S.H.E. "Don′t Wanna Grow Up′reminds us of those happy times and of our original dreams."

1. Where are the members of S.H.E from?

2. Why does the song "Don't Wanna Grow Up" have a classical feeling?

3. Xiao Xue prefers the refrain part to the lyrics, doesn′t she?

4.将第四段划线句改写成含有定语从句的复合句。
