Dear Mr. Anderson,

I am not sure whether you still remember me or not, but we met in Bethany last year. It was at your daughter’s wedding. Her husband David is an old friend of mine (in fact, we were roommates in college) and I came from New York for the wedding. You and I had a long chat at the reception and I told you a little about my job as a reporter for New York Times. You said that I should get in touch with you if I ever decided to come back to Bethany. At that time I had every intention of staying in New York, but since then I have changed my mind and now I would like very much to get a job back in my own hometown. My problem is this ---- I have been away now for so long (since 1987 in fact) that I have no job contacts(合约) in Bethany. That is why I am writing to you now. I would appreciate it very much if you could put me in touch with anyone who could help me or advise me. I hesitated writing to you like this, but any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

My best wishes to you and Mrs. Anderson.

                   Sincerely yours,

                   Patrick Neal
