An eleven-year-old boy in a small town wanted tobe a train-driver. But the boy was born without arms. He was taught by his uncle to use his feet as “hands”. He couldn't go to school so he spent all his time watching trains coming and going because he lived near the station. How he wished he could be a train-driver! One day he saw an empty train and he climbed in. He started it with his feet easily. Soon the train was traveling at forty kilometers an hour. Nobody could see the boy in the train or stop the train. The train reached a small station a little way from the town and then the boy drove it back. When he was near the town, a worker caught up with the train and stopped it. A small boy sat in his Dad's garage(车库), working hard on the pictures he was doing. He taught himself drawing. His father, a farmer, was very angry because his son's drawing could not make money for his family, or could help with his own school lessons. So he took away ail his son's drawing pens, brushes and paper, but the boy went on drawing and taught himself in the small garage day after day until one day he made a cartoon character(形象)Mickey Mouse that all the people, old and young, like very much.
The little boy was Walt Disney. He was born in Chicago in 1901. As one of the five children in Disney's family, he enjoyed a free childhood on the farm. He loved nature and wildlife that made him interested in a dream----to be an artist.
One day when he was sitting in the garage, drawing pictures, he found a mouse came into the garage and played on the floor. The little boy stopped drawing and watched the little thing carefully. The mouse came towards him slowly, and Walt gave the little mouse some bread to eat on his desk. In this way over several days the boy and the mouse became good friends.
Early in 1928, Walt was on a train from Manhattan to Hollywood. He tried time and again to be an artist, but he was still unlucky. One day he remembered the mouse in his Dad's garage and picked up his pen to started to draw a funny mouse with red pants, a black suit and white gloves. From then on, his first cartoon film became successful.
Later on, he made other cartoon characters like Donald Duck, Snow White and Three Little Pigs that people enjoy watching very much indeed. Walt Disney passed away in 1966, leaving us very interesting cartoon films, Disneylands and his rich imaginations.
