Finding a job is difficult. But what might be even more ontoward is figuring out how to get used to the new environment that you are working in when you do finally manage to get a new job. Here are some tips for dealing with the adjustment period.
Be friendly to people. Any job is better when you are friends of the people that you are working with. You should be friendly to everyone that you are meeting.Actually listen to what these people tell you. Most people like making friends with those who are willing to listen.
Stay positive. One of the tings that makes it difficult to adjust to a new job is negativity. If you automatically(无意识地)make judgments about things at the office that you aren’t going to like, then you’re going to find it difficult to approach the job with a positive attitude.Try to focus on the things that you like about the work and stay away from anyone that is saying negative things on the job.
Keep relaxed. Accept the fact that you probably aren’t going to get used to the new job immediately. You are going to make some mistakes; You are going to get confused or you're going to confuse others by doing things differently from what they’re used to.Be relaxed. The thing that you really need to get used to a new job is just time.
Getting used to a new job or a new work environment isn’t easy, but it doesn’t have to be particularly difficult either. Get to know the people that you are working with and the unspoken rules of the place by paying attention to what is going on around you and accepting that it’s going to take some time to get used to it all! After you have adjusted to your new job,the way to do the job well is coming to the first question.

Recently, in the hope of earning both money and social experience, I became a door-to-door salesman.
I once read a saying: “If somebody wants something of yours, you will be treated as warmly as spring, but if they don’t, you may be treated as coldly as winter.” You may consider this an exaggeration (夸张), but if you are a salesman, it is clearly correct.
You would never have found it to be so true if you hadn’t been a salesman. You needn’t stand doubtful looks and unfriendly comments; you needn’t listen to something completely wrong and nod to say that it was quite right; you needn’t worry about being refused time after time; you needn’t always keep patience and a smile; you needn’t repeat the same sentences over and over again; you needn’t talk to somebody you dislike…
I did this work for a month, then I decided to give it up.Apart from the reasons above, I found I was paying too much attention to the job and thus sacrificing my study time. The latest test result proved that my grades were getting worse.
Even worse, I hadn’t enough time to join my classmates in college activities.Sometimes I felt lonely and unhappy because of both my study and my part-time job.Now I don’t think it is worth doing such a thing ,for even though I was earning money , it came at great cost.
Newspapers and magazines often publish stories about excellent students who do part-time work while also keeping high scores in class. But according to my experience, part-time work can have some strong negative influences on study.
Most students don’t view the relationship between study and work correctly. In my opinion, if it isn’t a must for financial reasons, students should be careful about taking up a part-time job.

Three months ago, Mariza Castro left Honduras. Today, she is in the United States and she has a job. Castro works behind the counter at McDonald’s. Speed is an important part of her work life. Fast-food counter workers are expected to serve customers in less than a minute. At McDonald’s they say, “Work fast or you don’t last.”
Are McDonald’s workers lucky to have their jobs? Or are they being exploited? The answer depends on who you talk to.
McDonald’s does many good things. For example, no other company hires more young people than McDonald’s. More than half of its workers are under 20 years old. McDonald’s also has a good record of hiring minority workers. Thirteen percent of its workers are black. This is better than any other US company.
But the burger house has its critics as well. The pay bothered Edward Rodriguez. He had worked for nearly a year at a Los Angeles McDonald’s. During that time he got only one 10-cent raise. “I used to joke that working for McDonald’s is the closest thing to slave labour in the US today,” he says. Today, most McDonald’s pay about $ 5 an hour. They hire new workers constantly. The restaurant has no other choice because 70 percent of its workers quit or are fired every year.
But McDonald’s also gets its share of praise. Its best workers move up quickly. Just talk to 17-year-old Amber Abdur-Razaaq of Harlem, New York City. “They call me ‘Young Crew Chief’ around my block,” he says, “Where else can I go at my age and be in charge of this many people?” He sees that job as the first step in his career.
However, most McDonald’s crew members never make it to manager because the job pressure is so intense, and the rewards so few. As one worker put it, “They expect a lot and they don’t pay you much.”
