[1] The air we breathe is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet without it we could not survive more than a few minutes. For the most part, the same air is available to everyone, and everyone needs it. Some people use the air to sustain them while they sit around and feel sorry for themselves. Others breathe in the air and use the energy it provides to make a magnificent life for themselves.

[2] Opportunity is just the same. It is everywhere. Opportunity is so freely available that we take it for granted. Yet opportunity alone is not enough to create success. Opportunity must be seized and acted upon in order to have value. So many people are so anxious to “get in” on a “ground floor opportunity”, as if the opportunity will do all the work. That’s impossible.

[3] Just as ????????????????????????????????? , you need opportunity to succeed. It takes more than just breathing in the fresh air of opportunity, however. You must make use of that opportunity.’’ That’s not up to the opportunity. That’s up to you. It doesn’t matter what “floor” the opportunity is on. What matters is what you do with it.???

[1]Interviewing is a skill that can be learned and the key lies in the “three-Ps” of planning, practice and preparation. Here are some tips on making a successful interview.

[2]Prepare as well as you possibly can, search the web and research the background of the company and the people who you think are going to be interviewing you. Learn exactly what they do and exactly how you would fit in with the company. Most important try to understand the “Culture” of the company. You need to sommunicate in a way that mirrors their company standards, this will show you can fit in that organization. Understand a little of what their competitors are doing, this will show you’ve bothered to find out where their position in the market is.

[3]Just as important is your own personal preparation. Think about the key things you want to communicate and why you would be ideal for the job. Think about you can sound enthusiastic, without sounding desperate; now you can sell yourself. If they ask you a question, such as “tell me about your CV”, and you can’t do it fluently, you will find the interviewers will lose interest and you won’t get the job.

[4]During the interview, be a very good listener and if you can find some common ground with your interviewers, you will have a big advantage over your competitors. The interview is basically an interaction between two people, so how you come across as a person is of upmost importance. As soon as you enter the company building, make sure everyone you meet is left with the impression that you are a pleasant person. Sometimes an interview question might seem very simple, but don’t be deceived, there is always a reason for them asking that question.

[5]Generally wear a suit and tie, but it does depend on the job you are going for. You should have discovered, when you studied the company culture, what is expected. For media companies, for example, being smart but casual might be the style they want. They are looking for someone who is comfortable with himself or herself. In this case you should dress for who you are.

[6]It is natural if you are nervous, in fact it is a good sign; it shows you are taking the interview seriously. However try to avoid nervous mannerisms, such as tapping your foot or playing with you hair. Positive body language is important, so adopt a good posture. If you slouch in your chair, the interviewer will think you could be sloppy in your work as well. Positivity is essential in all aspects of your interview.

I was a small boy, just three or four years old, when I first heard the cool and magnetic(有磁性的)voice of Peggy Lee.It floated lightly from my parents’ radio, out across the sunny back garden where I was playing. The song was “On the Street Where You Live”.By and by, I came to pay attention to the expression of feelings, but could not always get a sensible meaning from them.“I have often walked down this street before,” sang Lee.“But the way always stayed beneath my feet before. All at once I am several storeys high.Knowing I’m on the street where you live...” I was almost lost at it.

Within the small network of streets that formed for me, the entire known world, including the footpaths and houses, was unchangeable.Apart from father’s description of life by telling various stories at my bedtime, still, the world Lee sang of seemed impossibly far off and pleasant, and, instantly, I loved the singer who delivered this puzzling singing to me.

In the early days of the sixties, other fine voices would be heard on radio, performing the same song, those of Torme and Damone included. But no one else’s version(翻唱)came close to Lee’s.

As I grew, I continued to hear Lee’s voice now and then from the radios. And, of course, I would come across her photos at the local record-store that I was after so obsessively(着迷地).Always, one of her photos would be a studied subject-the lips, offering the suggestion of a Mona Lisa-like smile, the hair, butter-yellow and carefully arranged, and the clothes, those of a movie star.More than once I was told that Peggy Lee’s iconic(偶像化的)appearance was only her stage look.I could see why.Though quite attractive, it just offered those persons like Peggy Lee a necessary mask to hide herself behind. But, it never makes the singer less favorable to me.
