It was the end of my first day as a waitress in a busy New York restaurant. My cap had gone away, and my feet hurt. The loaded plates I carried seemed to be heavier and heavier. Tired and discouraged, I didn't seem able to do anything right. As I wrote out a check for a family with several children who had changed their ice-cream order a dozen times, I was ready to quit. Then the father smiled at me as he handed me my tip. “Well done”, he said, “you're looking after us really well.” Suddenly my tiredness disappeared. I smiled back, and later, when the manager asked me how I’d like my first day, I said, “Fine!” Those few words of praise had changed everything. Praise is like sunshine to the human spirit; no flower can grow without it. And yet, most of us are only too ready to apply to others the cold wind of criticism; we are unwilling to give our fellows the warm sunshine of praise. Why---when one word of praise can bring such benefit?
In fact, to give praise costs the giver nothing but a moment's thought and a moment's effort but will reward both the giver and the recipient（接受者） with a happy day. Let’s learn to give credit（赞扬） to people around us.

Jade means a lot in Chinese culture and is highy valued by the Chinese people.
Many people begin to wear one when they are young till they die, believing that it
will bring them good luck.
Every time I stop to think about which possession of mine means the most to me,
I find myself looking at my left wrist, around which is a simple jade bracelet. And this bracelet will always remind me of my culture and the individual that I am.
I remember very clearly the night my parents gave me the bracelet. It was in mysophomore (二年级)  year of high school, and I had stayed out at midnight. When Ifinally got home, my parents gave me a lecture on responsibility. I expected to beplaced on restriction, but instead they gave me a jade bracelet. I was totally
shocked...but when I went to bed that night I was supremely happy.
The next morning my father told me that because they had gone shopping for the
bracelet, he had not gone to the racetrack(赛马场), and had missed out on winning
$20,000 because of me. However, he said that I was worth it.
The bracelet will always remind me of those two days and the love that exists in my relationship with my parents, even though nothing is ever said. I know that no matter what I may do, my parents will always love me and accept me the way I am.
Since I got the bracelet, I have not taken it off--mostly because I don't want to. My bracelet means so much to me that if it should ever break, I would be enormously
upset, But then. I could always save the pieces for good luck.

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in winter, the second in the spring, the third in the summer and the youngest son in the fall.
When they all had gone and returned, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said the tree was ugly and twisted. The second son said no, it was covered with green buds ad full of promise. The third son disagreed, he said it was filled with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful that it was the most graceful things he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them, insisting that it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and satisfaction.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had seen but one season in the tree’s life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by one season. If you give up when it’s winter, you’ll miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and satisfaction of your fall.
Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest!

13 Farmers Moved China

         CCTV.com News: 13 farmers from Yutian Country, Tangshan City, Hebei Province have formed a rescue team to the snowstorm stricken areas in South China. On the Eve of the Spring Festival, driving a rented bus for Chenzhou, Hunan ,they joined the disaster relief team. On the spot of a Chenzhou’s emergency repair ,Song Zhiyong ,a farmer in Tangshan ,and also the group leader of the voluntary rescue team is working hard with 12 brothers in the village.

         Song Zhiyong said that the idea of giving the support to the disaster area first accurred to them on Dec. 28 of the lunar year, when the celebration of the New Year was approaching. They planned to donate some money to Chenzhou there at the very beginning. However ,later ,they thought that was not enough and then they changed their mind.

         “We should arrive at the front line, which is also a kind of comfort to the people there.” Song Zhiyong thought to himself.

         When the journalists ask why they come to their rescue ,they said, “we have experienced the oversized earthquake before ,and at that time the people from all over China helped us. I think we also should try our best to help others in trouble and do what we could for them.”
