  Eye doctors in Shanghai found out that the nearsightedness among primary and middle school students has something to do with the colour of the paper in their textbooks and notebooks.

  The doctors suggested that yellow paper will be used to replace the white one.According to

their research,the experts found out white paper reflects too much light and easily tires a person’s eyes.The yellow paper,however,doesn’t look so sharp to a person’s eyes.In other words,it is much milder to the eyes of students who may do reading or writing for hours.

  Steve Jobs, co-founder and former CEO of US technology giant Apple, has died at the age of 56.Mr Jobs had announced he was suffering from cancer in 2004.Apple said he had been "the source of countless innovations(创新)that enrich and improve all of our lives" and had made the world "immeasurably(无法衡量的)better".

  Tributes(赞美之辞)have been made by technology company bosses and world leaders, with US President Barack Obama saying the world had "lost a visionary(有远见卓识的人)"."Steve was among the greatest of American innovators —— brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it," said Mr Obama.

  Apple said the company had "lost a visionary and creative genius(天才)and the world have lost an amazing human being".Tim Cook, who was made Apple's CEO after Mr Jobs stood down in August, said his predecessor had left behind "a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple".Flags are being flown at half mast outside the Apple headquarters(总部)in Cupertino, California, while fans of the company have left tributes outside Apple shops around the world.

  The heads of other leading technology companies have also paid tribute, including Microsoft boss Bill Gates, who said "For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been a great honour.I will miss Steve very much."

Napping(小睡) after learning something new could help improve your memory--- as long as you dream, scientists say.

  They found people who dream about a new task do it better on waking than those who do not sleep or do not dream.

Volunteers were asked to learn the layout(布局,设计) of a 3D computer maze(迷宫) so they could find their way several hours later. Those allowed to take a pap and who also remembered dreaming of the task, found their way to a landmark quicker.

  The researchers think the dreams are a sign that unconscious(无意识的) parts of the brain are working hard to process information about the task..

  Dr. Robert Stickgold of Harvard Medical School, said dreams may be a marker that the brain is working on the same problem at many levels.

  Study tips

  Co-author Dr. Erin Wamsley said the study suggests our non-conscious brain works on the things that it deem(认为) are the most important.

  “Every day we are gathering lots of information and new experiences,” she said. “It would seem that our dreams are asking the question, “How do I use this information to inform(影响) my life?”
