Mid Atlantic Disc Dogs (MAD­Dogs) hosts local competitions and offers informal instruction in local parks or even in people’s backyards.

Flyball Dogs

The sport has been around since 1970s.Flyball is a relay race with four dogs in a team. Each must jump four hurdles (跨栏) spaced with 10 feet apart and then land on a spring­loaded box that shoots out a tennis ball. The dog must then catch the ball and run back over the four hurdles. Once that’s done，the next dog can go. The first team that successfully completes the course wins the competition. There are a number of local teams，including 4 Dog Night，which holds classes for beginners and intermediate players and is always looking for new team members. The Beltway Bandits is another team，based in Leesburg，that hosts private classes and competitions.

What is it?
It is a course which will introduce you to the College and to Bingham. It takes place in the week before term starts, from 24^th-28^th September, but you should plan to arrive in Bingham on the 22^nd or 23^rd September.
Why do we think it is important?
We want you to have the best possible start to your studies and you need to find out about all the opportunities that college life offers. It will enable you to get to know the college, its facilities and services. You will also have a chance to meet staff and students.
How much will it cost?
* International students (non-European Union students)
For those students who do not come from European Union (EU) countries, and who are not used to European culture and customs, the progamme is very important and you are strongly advised to attend. Because of this, the cost of the programme, without accommodation, is built into your tuition fees.
* EU students
EU students are welcome to take part in this programme without accommodation for ￡195.

The cost of accommodation for one week is ￡165
If you have booked accommodation for the year ahead (41 weeks) through the college, you do not have to pay extra for accommodation. You can ask us to pre-book accommodation for you one week only in a hotel with other International students.

◆Days 1～3：UK—Shanghai

◆Days 4～7: Shanghai－Yangtze River Tour

Fly to Yichang and change(approx. one hour) to board your Yangtze River ship for the next four nights. Enjoy a tour of the Three Gorges Dam(三峡大坝) before sailing on the grand Yangtze River, passing through the impressive Three Gorges. We take a side trip to the Lesser Three Gorges or travel up the Shennong Stream in a peapod boat and enjoy various shore trips along the way.

◆Day 8: Chongqing－Chengdu

Get off in Chongqing and drive to Chengdu for an overnight stay.

◆Days 9～10：Chengdu－Xi’an

Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see the lovely animals. We then fly to the historic city of Xi’an for two nights’ stay and enjoy traditional Shui Jiao. Next day, explore one of the most important discoveries of the 20^th Century－the Terracotta Warriors(兵马俑), followed by the ancient City Wall and a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

◆Days 11～13: Xi’an－Beijing

Visit Little Wild Goose Pagoda and see the ancient objects at the well-known Shaanxi Provincial Museum before walking through the lively Muslim Quarter to see the Great Mosque. Later fly to Beijing for three nights’ stay and try Peking Duck. During our stay in Beijing, we stroll through Tiananmen Square to the Forbidden City, the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China, and visit the Summer Palace. Next day we take a walk on the Great Wall, tour the unique Temple of Heaven and enjoy an attractive Chinese Acrobatic Show.

London has become a cycle friendly zone after the launch of a new bike hire scheme.It has been designed to encourage more people to cycle in and around central London.
So how does it  work？First you have to sign up to the scheme to be sent a key.The key will unlock one of the bikes，which are kept at docking stations in  and around central London.You have to pay an access fee for the key and then you pay as you go，for he length of time you use the bike.
Transport for London， which runs the scheme，are hoping to have 6，000 bikes and 400 docking stations in place by the end of the year.The new hire system is hoping to ease congestion in London and is expected to generate up to 40，000 extra cycle trips a day into the city centre.London Mayor Boris Johnston launched the scheme and said London had been “filled with thousands of gleaming machines that will transform the look and feel of our streets and become as commonplace on our roads as black cabs and red buses”.
