    　　You will have a lot of reading to do in this grade this year．You can do more of it in less time if you learn to read rapidly．

    　　Perhaps you have been told about some habits(习惯)which keep a person from reading fast and have been strongly asked to break those habits which you might have．

    　　If you read no more than one or two three words at a time, you need to work very hard in learning to take in(吸收)more words at each glance(一瞥)as your eyes travel across the lines of words．

    　　Earlier this month, a solar-powered(太阳能动力的)plane took off to the sky for the first time．It had passed an important test on the way to travel around the world．

    　　The plane took off from an airport in Switzerland(瑞士)at 45km an hour．It slowly rose above the fields and into the sky．

    　　“There has never been an airplane of that kind that could fly-never an airplane so big, se light, using so little energy,”said Bertrand Piccard, a leader of the project．

    　　On June 30, 2009, a Yemenia airplane from Paris to Comoros, Africa, crashed into the Indian Ocean．There were 153 people on the plane, including some French officials．Though people have been searching since the plane went down, the result looked unpleasant, for most of the passengers might be in bad luck．

    Run, Terry, Run

    　　Terry Fox had cancer(癌). It left him with only one leg. Yet he became famous for running. He ran with an artificial (人造的) leg to raise(集资) money to fight cancer. His plan was to run all the way across Canada, from St. John's to Vancouver. He would cross the water by boat. Terry started out in St. John's in April, 1981, and made it to the halfway point.
