How are you? Mum, Dad and I went to Thailand last week. We had a great time!

We arrived at the airport early on Friday morning. I chose a window seat on the plane. I could see the clouds clearly from the window. They looked soft and shiny. Four hours later, we landed in Thailand.

We stayed at a hotel in Pattaya on our first day. We went to the beach. We played different water sports there. We had so much fun! We were tired when we got back to the hotel.

On the next day, we went to Bangkok. We visited two temples there. They looked like golden bells with pointed tops. We took some photos outside the temples and had a walk in the gardens. In the evening, we had dinner at a restaurant next to a lake. The food was very spicy so I kept drinking cold water!

On the last day, we went to a shopping mall. Mum bought a beautiful tea set. Dad bought some T-shirts and I bought some dried mangoes (芒果干). We went to the airport after lunch. I was lucky because I got a window seat again. This time I could see the beautiful sunset (日落).

We enjoyed the trip very much. I hope we will go on another trip again soon.

Mark was 11 and often went fishing with his father．Several hours before the bass（巴斯鱼） season opened，he and his father were fishing early in the evening．One hour later，he found he caught a big fish，but it was a bass．

It was 10 pm--two hours before the season opened．His father looked at the fish，and then at the boy．

"You will have to put it back，son，" he said．  

"Dad ! "cried the boy．

"There will be other fish，"said his father．  

"Not as big as this one，" cried the boy．

Mark looked around the lake．No others were around．Nobody would know what time he caught the fish，but he knew his father wouldn't change his idea．He slowly put the fish into the water．He thought that he would never again see such ~ great fish．

That was 34 years ago．Today，Mark is a successful man．And he was right．He has never again caught such a big fish．But he does see that same fish again and again--every time he faces a question of ethics（道德准则）．

Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was born on November 30, 1835, in a small town in Florida, the USA. He grew up with a few naughty boys who later appeared in his stories. Perhaps you are familiar with some of his books, as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. At the age of 12, his father died, and he began to work, first as a printer, then a pilot on a river boat. Those years on the boat went into his book Life on the Mississippi.

    During the Civil War he worked as a reporter and used Mark Twain as his pen name. The stories he wrote in this period made him famous and popular. He made a lot of money by writing, lecturing and running his own publishing house. But he spent all of it on his high living and unsuccessful business.
