Mr．Beckman has worked in a company for nearly twenty years．His job is to copy all the documents the manager writes．His office is on the first floor and the light there is always poor unless it’s fine．So his sight became shorter several years later．He has to wear a pair of glasses when he’s working．Of course, it brought him a lot of trouble．He can’t see anything clearly without glasses．Sometimes he can’t recognize his wife when they meet with each other in the street．

　　The man looked tired this evening．After supper he went to bed while his family were watching TV．Mrs．Beckman didn’t turn off the television until the interesting TV play was over．She came into their bedroom in the dark at half past ten．As soon as she lay down, there was a great noise under the bed．She thought a mouse must have come in again．She jumped off and had to turn on the light and tried to beat it with a stick．She made some noise and it made her husband wake up．

　　“You have never worn glasses when you were sleeping before,” the woman said in surprise．“But why are you wearing them this time?”

　　“Well, dear,” said the man．“I dreamed a lot last night．I saw my late(已故的) parents, but I couldn’t see them clearly．So I have to do so!”

　　Korea is lighting up Chinese screens after popular singer and actress Jang Nara(张娜拉)arrived in the country last week．

　　Having been awarded(授予)the title of South Korea’s(韩国的)most beautiful smile in October, she is here to tell fans about her new album, “Friend”, and comedy(喜剧)film, “ Oh!Happy Day ”．

　　“I was really impressed by the naughty teenage girls she has played in TV series and films,” said Wang Wei, a senior high school student in Tianjin．

　　“Her natural smile is better than those of other Korean stars who got their beautiful faces through surgery(手术)．”

　　The 22-year-old, who was named best artist in Asia at the CCTV Music Awards this year, has become very popular in China．While adults enjoy listening to her music, teenage girls like to copy her clothes, hairstyle and even the childish tricks she plays in her films．

　　This got out of hand at an event in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province earlier this year, as excited fans ran onto the stage to meet her．

　　“I didn’t realize there were so many people in China who loved my songs and films,” she said．“Maybe I shouldn’t play so many naughty tricks in my films in the future．” but behind this fun-loving face is a young woman who takes her career very seriously．Jang turned down a trip to the Grammy awards in America this February to be at a fans meeting in South Korea．

　　“Entertainers should always bring hopes and dreams to the audience,” she said．She also gave US ＄150,000 of her own money to help starving children in Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(朝鲜)．

　　If she has time, Jang enjoys life as a normal art student at Chungang University(中央大学)．“I like to go to class and eat with my friends,” she said．“But nowadays, I’m happy just to get some sleep．”
