阅读理解

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

My topic is fashion, and to make my talk more lively, I have brought along five objects.Fashion is important to all of us.Now we are all wearing school uniforms. When we go home, what do we do? We change into other clothes. If we are going out, we like to wear fashionable clothes. So my first object is this blouse. It looks beautiful, doesn't it? It is my most expensive piece of clothing, and I love it.It costs over $ 600.You may say that it is too expensive, but luckily I can pay for it.The more you spend, the better the quality is.So you see, fashion is quite important to me, I admit it.

However, I'm not as fond of fashion as my elder brother.Last summer, my parents took us both to London. They wanted to show us some fashion sights. But my brother Gary did not enjoy the old buildings. He just wanted to spend all his time in the big shopping malls, searching for the coolest pair of trousers! For him, fashion was more important than culture. These are the trousers he bought. Were they worth the cost of a trip to London to buy these? I don't think so.I think it was a waste, of time and money.

We must, however, remember that fashion is a very big business.Changes in fashion can create or lose jobs.As an example, I have brought this blonde wig (假发) to show you.Do you like it'? It belongs to one of my mother's friends. She told me that in the 1960s, it was fashionable for Western women to wear wigs. But a few years later fashions changed and women wore wigs much less often. Then the wig factories closed down and hundreds of workers lost their jobs.

Andy rode slowly on his way to school, day-dreaming about the fishing trip that his father had promised him. He was so busy dreaming about all the fish he would catch that he was unaware of everything else around him.
He rode along until a strange sound drew him to the present. He came to a stop and looked up to the sky. What he saw frightened him. A huge group of bees filled the sky like dark cloud and seemed to be heading angrily towards him.
With no time to waste Andy sped off in the opposite direction, riding quickly without knowing how to escape the group. With a rapidly beating heart and his legs pumping quickly, he sped down the rough road. As the bees came closer, his fear increased. Andy knew that he was sensitive(敏感的) to bee stings (蜇). Last time a sting had put him in hospital—and that was only one bee sting! He had been forced to stay in bed for two whole days. Suddenly, his father’s words came to him. “When you are in a dangerous situation, don’t panic. Stay calm, use your brain and think your ways out of it. ”
On a nearby hill, he could see smoke waving slowly from the chimney(烟囱) of the Nelson family home. “Bees don’t like smoke,” he thought. “They couldn’t get into the house.” Andy raced towards the Nelson house, but the bees were gaining around. Andy knew he could not reach the house in time. He guessed that the bees would catch up with him soon.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a small pond used by Mr. Nelson to water his vegetable garden. Off his bike and into the cool water he jumped, disappearing below the surface and away from the bees. After holding his breath for as long as he could, Andy came up for air and noticed the bees have gone. Pulling himself out of the water, he walked up the hill and rang the doorbell. Mr. Nelson took him inside and rang his mother.
“You’ll really need that fishing break to help you recover(恢复),” laughed his mother. “Thank goodness you didn’t panic!” But Andy did not hear her. He was dreaming once again of the fish he would catch tomorrow.

Without planning tourism can cause problem. For example, too many tourists can crowd pubic places that are also enjoyed by the people there. If tourists create too much traffic, the people there become angry and unhappy. They began to dislike tourists and to treat them impolitely. They forget how much tourism can help the country’s economy (经济). It is important to think about how tourism affects them. Tourism should help a country keep the culture and beauty that attract tourists. Tourism should be also helpful for the health and happiness of local people.

Too much tourism can be a problem. If tourism grows too quickly, people must leave other jobs to work in the tourism industry. This means that other parts of the country’s economy can suffer.

On the other hand, if there is not enough tourism, people can lose jobs. Businesses can also lose money. It costs a great deal of money to build large hotels, airports, first-class roads, and other support facilities (设施) needed by tourist attractions. For example, a large hotel can cost as much as 50 thousand dollars per room to build. If this room is not used most of the time, the owners of the hotel will lose money.

Building a hotel is just a beginning. There must be many support facilities as well, including roads to get to the hotel, electricity, sewers (下水道) to handle waste and water. All of these support facilities cost money. If they are not used because there not enough tourists, jobs and money are lost.

A. have more people out of work
