Step 1 Pre_task
(1)Greet the class as usual and check the homework..
(2)Ask some students to report their parents or friends problems and the advice they gave them.
(3)Give them little presents if some of them do their work well.
Step 2 Lead-in
Use several questions that we have learned to lead into the context. Use the structure: Where would you like to visit? Would you like to visit it? Do you think being a volunteer is great? Do you hope to become volunteer?
Step3 Present the Key Vocabulary
Write the new words and phrases on the blackboard and explain them.
Step4 Pairwork
Ask students to pay attention to look at the bulletin board and talk about the posters in pairs.
For example, for the first poster, a pair might say: It means there is trash in the park. There are papers on the ground. We can help clean up the park by picking up papers and trash. We can make the park clean.
Step5 Practice
Ask the students to add some other ways they can help people, and then ask several students to share their ideas with the class.
(The teacher need to write any new words or phrases on the board and explain these words to the class, if necessary.)
Step6 Listening
This activity gives students practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation.Play the tape twice and then checks the answers with the whole class.
Step7 Speaking
Let the students work in pairs and make conversations to express their own opinions.
Sample dialogue:
S1: I would like to work outside.
S2: You could help plant trees and grass to beautify our hometown.
Step8 Consolidation
Ask the students to practice similar conversations using the information in activity 1b based on the other two posters. Get two pairs to demonstrate two conversations first.
Step 9 Activity:
Ask the students to choose a volunteer job they might like to do and draw a picture of it. They can draw a picture like the posters in the textbook. They can also add a sentence describing the job. They may do this in several groups. After they’ve finished, display the pictures on a bulletin board and discuss these pictures with the class.
Step10 Summary and Homework:
A) Sum up the main content of the class.
