15. Seizing an opportunity is the first and most important step towards success. We often hear someone complaining that they can’t succeed because of lack of opportunities. Actually, opportunities exist around us all the time, but not everyone can seize them, just like the two hunters in the picture. While they are arguing about the best way to cook a swan if they catch one, a swan is flying over the head of them. Obviously, they will miss this swan if they keep arguing instead of shooting it.

This picture reminds me of some people in real life who always think about what they will gain if they have an opportunity to do a particular thing. While they are imagining, opportunities are passing them by. 9.Protection of Environment

　There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. The polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation(总称　 植物，草木) had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities.

　To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative (立法的)steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today.

In my opinion, to protect the environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should make people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying the environment means destroying mankind themselves.

8. 　Since the Copenhagen Climate Conference, carrying out low carbon economy and living a low carbon life has been a hot topic. Recently our class had a heated discussion about it.

Through the discussion, we are fully aware of the necessity of carrying out a low carbon economy in our country. Fossil fuels have been mainly used for power for quite a long time, thus producing large quantities of greenhouse gases and causing serious pollution. People have paid more attention to economic growth than the environmental protection. / People have given priority to economic growth over the environmental protection. / People have developed economy at the sacrifice of the environment. During the discussion, my classmates put forward the following suggestions about how to take a green development path. First, more trees should be planted to expand forest coverage. We all think it everyone’s duty to live a low carbon life. We should try to save every bit of water and electricity. It’s also important to use public transportation as much as possible. 7. Recently , my classmates and I participated in the activity of Low-carbon Living organized by the WWF. On the first day, we chose to go to school by bike or on foot rather than by bus or car. Before we left the classroom, we made sure the lights and the computer were switched off. In order to make full use of paper, we began to write on both sides. Besides, while shopping, we no longer used plastic bags but carried environmentally friendly ones.

I think what we did on that day was meaningful, which helps us to form a good habit. We should also call on the people around us to do something for low-carbon living. Only in this way will the earth be a good place to live on.
