根据文章内容,从下框A-F选项中选出能概括每一段主题的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑,选项中有一项多余。

A. Speed-reading courses recommended by the author.

B. Try to find your own method to improve your reading speed.

C. More and more people have realized the importance of speed reading.

D. People spend more time in reading to prepare themselves for the future.

E. The benefits of group events in improving the speed-reading ability.

F. Courses available to improve the speed-reading ability.

61.____________

Speed reading has become a necessity in the business world as well as in the world of education. More and more people are signing up to take courses online or at local community colleges to improve not only their reading speed but also the rate at which they accurately comprehend the materials they are reading.

62.__________

Many people constantly attend courses, trying to improve their reading speed and the comprehension ability. We’re in such a world where everyone maintains copious (丰富的) useless trivia rattling around in our brains in order to come out at unexpected times. However, we all know that there is no such a thing as bad knowledge, so we constantly educate ourselves in the hope that we can face any challenge or difficulty in life with ease.

63.__________

If you are looking for a speed-reading course in order to improve your skills, I recommend courses in which you are doing more than reading tips and advice. There are many that offer software, games, and other boosters to help you learn to read faster. I’m a bit skeptical of the idea of simply reading a list of suggestions in order to accelerate the reading speed and improve the reading comprehension.

64.__________

If you have joined a local group that often get together in order to “compete” or offer that little bit of competitive edge as far as speed reading goes, this is an excellent motivator for those who need a little push or a friendly competition in order to really get into the swing of things. Having some degree of accountability to yourselves or others always seem to help and offer that extra little nudge to do things faster the next time. However, it’s easier to compete with others than it is to compete with yourself. Therefore, group events are great way to encourage you to show marked improvement in your speed-reading ability.

65.__________

Keep in mind that if one method doesn’t seem to be working for you, you should try another rather than giving up all together. No two brains are alike and it sometimes takes a lot of trial and error before you find the most suitable way. The ability of speed reading is a great gift given to you by God, so don’t give up easily.

We are not born doubting ourselves. We learn to do it. In fact, we are usually taught to doubt ourselves. We can learn some ways that allow us to become more accepting of ourselves. Following are two behaviors that might explain the reasons why you can't move towards greater self-acceptance.

One thing that might cause you not to accept yourself is over-generalizing about something you've done that you don't like. For example, if you fail a test you might generalize and say, "I'm really a stupid person."When you do this you are making a statement about all of you all of the time and not just about this one situation at this time. Instead, you might decide that your grade on this test in this subject at this time was indeed poor, and then go on to decide what you want to do about your poor grade, if anything. Getting stuck in over-generalizing discourages you from taking steps that might allow you to do better on the next exam and to build an expectation of future failure.
Having standards that are impossibly high is a second way you can not accept yourself. It may not come as a surprise to you that most of us are more demanding of ourselves than we are of others. Somehow we can tolerate the fact that other people fail, that they aren't always kind, that they've done things they aren't proud of, but we have difficulty accepting those very human aspects of our-selves. The need to be perfect is another way to set yourself up for failure and enhance the feeling that you are not acceptable. We all make mistakes. Accepting less than perfection simply means recognizing the limitations natural in being born a human being. Learn to value who you are rather than who you could become. Wouldn't it be overpowering if we always had to do what we imagine we could do? Nobody has the time and energy to do all of that.We must make choices about what we will pursue and do them the best we can under the circumstances, which aren't always ideal, by the way.
54.Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A.We can feel that we are perfect when we set ourselves up for success.
B.We can tolerate the fact that we've done things we aren't proud of.
C.Over-generalizing might encourage you to expect the future.
D.Over-generalizing might cause you not to accept yourself.
55.What is the author's attitude according to the passage?
A.It's necessary for people to be perfect.

B.It's acceptable for people to be imperfect.

C.It's strange for people to be born with limitation.

D.It's possible for people to do what they imagine.
56.What has caused the lack of self-acceptance?
A.Tolerance and high-level.

B.Limitation and expectation.
C.Over-generalization and high-standard.

D.Extreme difficulty and complete failure.

For my daughter’s 19th birthday in December, we bought her tickets to go and see “Link Park”, as they were playing in our city in the UK. We didn’t really have the money, but we knew how much they meant to her.

The night before the concert, she was like a kid at Christmas and couldn’t sleep. It was good to see her so happy and excited. She and her boyfriend went together.

When they returned after midnight happily with T-shirts, lots of video and pictures, they talked happily about how fantastic they had seen. We knew that the money had been well spent.

Still full of excitement from the night before, they decided on the following day to go to the shopping centre on the other side of the city. Later that day when they returned, they came and presented my husband and me with a gift each. On each present were the words “because you are the best mom/dad in the world”. When we asked her why she had bought us gifts, her answer was simply “just because I love you”.

She explained she just wanted to show us that she appreciated us. This wasn’t something new from our daughter; she had always given us a gift when she wanted to express her feelings, and each gift was always a welcome surprise. It could be anything that wasn’t very expensive, but it didn’t matter; it was the sentiment behind it that counted.

50. We infer that when returning from the night out, the writer’s daughter felt ______.

   A. terrible          B. excited         C. disappointed      D. interested

51. The daughter often expresses her feelings to her parents by ______.

   A. telling them directly         B. writing them a card

   C. giving them surprises        D. buying them presents

52. What can we infer from the passage?

   A. That the writer’s husband also likes “Link Park” very much

   B. That the writer’s mother doesn’t have a job

   C. That the people in the writer’s family live a happy life together

   D. That the writer lets her daughter do whatever she likes

53. What does the underlined word “sentiment” in the last paragraph mean?

   A. Feelings       B. Story        C. Happiness       D. Actions

How many people have I met who have told me about the book that they have been planning to write but have never yet found the time? Far too many.

This is Life, all right, but we do treat it like a rehearsal(排演)and, unhappily, we do miss so many of its best moments.

We take jobs to stay alive and provide homes for our families, always making ourselves believe that this style of life is merely a temporary state of affairs along the road to what we really want to do. Then, at 60 or 65, we are suddenly presented with a clock and several grandchildren and we look back and realize that all those years waiting for Real Life to come along were in fact real life.

In America they have a saying much laughed at by the English:“Have a nice day!” They speak slowly and seriously in their shops, hotels and sandwich bars. I think it is a wonderful phrase, reminding us, in effect, to enjoy the moment: to value this very day.

How often do we say to ourselves, "I'll take up horse-riding(or golf, or sailing)as soon as I get a higher position," only to do none of those things when I do get the higher position.

When I first became a reporter, I knew a man who gave up a very well paid respectable job at the Daily Telegraph to go and edit a small weekly newspaper. At the time I was astonished by what appeared to me to be his completely abnormal(反常的)mental state. How could anyone turn his back on Fleet Street in central London for a small local area?I wanted to know.

Now I am a little older and possibly wiser, I see the sense in it. In Fleet Street the man was under continual pressure. He lived in an unattractive London suburb and he spent much of his life sitting on Southern Region trains.

46.The first paragraph of the passage tells us that

A.we always try to find some time to write a book

B.we always make plans but seldom fulfill them

C.we always enjoy many of life's best moments

D.we always do what we really want to do

47.The underlined phrase "turn his back on" (paragraph 6) most probably means

  A.leave for B.return to C.give up D.rely on

48.The man ( paragraph 6) left his first job partly because he was

A.in an abnormal state B.under too much pressure

  C.not well paid D.not respected

49.What is probably the best title for the passage?

A.Provide Homes For Our Family B.Take Up Horse-riding

C.Value This Very Day D.Stay Alive
